thanks for that reply, friend! very informative, i think i will take your advice
Yea you should definitely wait until it gets some proper patches or better yet, once it's out of the Beta. Don't get me wrong it is playable but there are a lot of bugs/glitches and some of them can even be gamebreaking or softlock you. I've played around 7 hours of it now and I must say that while I did enjoy my time with it so far, I think I'm gonna wait until it's properly patched since I've already encountered way too many bugs and glitches for my taste.

The game is amazing but I agree it does have bugs, but this is a free Fallout game basically and for that it is amazing. Even in its current state it is far better than FO4.
This isnt my opion since i havnt tried the mod yet but from what i heard the mod also have some lore breaking issues such as the shi being japanese instead of being chinese and (SPOILER ALERT)

The protaginist will become corier and this dosnt seem to sit well with the fans as they prefer the corier story as it is.

For a second I thought this was a real fallout game.

I was excited until I googled it.

It sure is great. I dare say it's not badly written, although yes, it's buggy. I felt like I had Luck 10+ after encountering only two bugs that were easy enough the get around, since I'm on their Discord and people had plot stoppers, softlocks and other problems all around.

There will be more content in the future, like the NC >>> NV transition that's planned to come out in 1.0. I think there are some consequences that might come to fruit in the Mojave after playing through NC as well.

But yeah, if you don't feel like you need to play it right now, I'd say wait until either 1.0 or whatever the truly stable release will be.

Compared to other mods it is brilliant.

Its attempt to retcon the story of the Courier is a bit silly and forced though. Some of the factions are also a bit silly.

It is a very incomplete Beta. It has promise if the guy can get it finished. He has done a ton of work and still has a long, long way to go.

I just started and you can't actually choose your tagged skills til you finish the prologue? Ended up with Unarmed, Melee Weapons and one other when I prefer Guns and Repair to start with. Also, what is a good SPECIAL to start with since it actually seems to matter quite a bit in dialogue?

Does anyone know what else they are planning to add? I've played a good way through the NCR quest and it seems pretty good; quite sparse once you leave the vault - but still fun. Hardcore mode is not recommended though.

@caelcyndar5: Pretty much all the SPECIAL stats get used at some point - annoyingly the mods depends almost entirely on Charisma for persuasion (at least as far as I saw) when the stat is usually useless in New Vegas.
A high Luck stat opens up a particularily hilarious one in the later game

Ugh. I usually stick with a SPECIAL of 6571867 for regular New Vegas. Even if Charisma was useful I leave it at 1 because I hardly ever use companions, just do their quests and leave them at the Lucky 38 since everything they kill doesn't count towards the challenges.

I started out with Intel of 10 and charisma of 8 plus way of the science which allowed me to I think recruit all the followers you can get which made the rest of the game pretty easy since I had a small army following me.

The mod is free so there isn't really any reason to not try it. I guess I have been lucky as in about 20 hours of play I have not had any major/gamebreaking bugs. The story isn't bad although I did feel disconnected at times like I missed something big. One of the characters shown in the loading art had like 3 lines of dialog so either I missed something or that someting isn't there yet.

Another thing about New California, I'm not allowed to steal anything in Vault 18?

If you stick to the main quests, it's phenomenal. Hang out on the Discord and report bugs, and we usually get you through anything game-breaking quickly enough. I'm working on it with them. It's two guys for seven years, with minor contributions along the way. I joined up with them about a month or two ago, and we've recruited a fairly decent number of people to do side content now. The two main fellas are mostly handling the polish and bugs on the main quests.

The Shi are not Japanese. There were no Chinese VAs around, but the studio had a partnership with a Japanese one if I recall, so in New California lore, they had China annex Japan pre-War, then stick some conscripted Japanese soldiers on the submarine, and had these Japanese Shi, called the Rebel Shi, not assimilate and not know English. The Chinese Shi, called the True Shi, speak English now that so many years have passed.
