Open up My Documents\My Games\FalloutNV\Fallout.ini in notepad and then replace the text in the fonts section with this

i deleted the default font text and put that one in but the vats still is crapped

I checked and the ini didn't save. but i was sure i saved it

Essentially make sure that the order of hud mods is set up correctly.

If you use Onehud, make sure you have the darnified patch and it should fix it. Worked for me.
