Any graphic mods that only IMPROVE graphics, not change them?
ive tried quite some graphics mods, and they all look neat, yes, but they dont just improve the texture, they completely replace it with something else. To me, that is basically not playing new vegas, since the graphics are all different. It removes the authenticity of the game, as well as the overall intended feel. Just want to improve the graphics, not change them. If anybody knows of any mods that do this, please post here, I would really appreciate that. Thank you.

It's more than fairly hard to find graphics mods based on the criteria of being nearly 100% true to vanilla, unfortunately. There are some small ones, at least: Vanilla Loading Screens HD[www.nexusmods.com] as well as High Res Vanilla Posters And Graffiti[www.nexusmods.com] use some fancy upscaling method that IMO just makes the textures look plain better. PM's HD Ammo Boxes[www.nexusmods.com] and Pause Menu HD[www.nexusmods.com] also stay fairly true to the vanilla aesthetic. Keep in mind that I've pulled all of these mods from Rika's guide to FNV modding[docs.google.com], so credits to that person. Oh, and you might want to take a look inside there for some other graphic mods that don't stray too far away from the default game. I do have to ask though, where do you draw the line between something straying away too far and something staying authentic to the game's intended look? Edit: An example would help.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I will definitely check out those mods, thanks. Well, I would say the colours of things should be the same, as the shape. changing the colour and shape goes way too far imo. The textures and graphics should be improved. That's practically the only thing that I want. Changing shape and colour ruins the authentic feel of the game. for example a wall can be damaged, where the damage is can be changed, but the colour should be the same and so should the shape. with upgraded graphics. sorry for the non-visual example but i don't know how to upload a picture to the chat.
Hmm... A visual example would help, yeah. Judging from its screenshots, do you believe EXE - Effect Textures Enhanced[www.nexusmods.com] enhances the look of visual effects for the better or do you think it changes too much of the textures and colours, causing a visual clash with the rest of the game?
Well, most of the pics aren't next to the OG so I can't really compare... it does look like the visual effects have been enhanced though.. does this mod add anything to the game?
Judging from the mod's description and title, I believe it only changes the textures.

Do you see anything unusual with the weapons displayed? I'm a newbie to this game, so I wouldn't know. Also yes, now after examining the textures have been uphauled greatly. After playing new vegas for a bit i recognized instantly that the textures are much better IMO.
Anything unusual, as in are the weapons modded weapons? Nah, I recognize most if not all of them from the vanilla game.
OK. I'll install the mod and let you know how it goes.
Sounds good.
Game keeps freezing on the loading screen, any idea how to fix this?? This is only after installing the mod. I've seen people say that verifying cache may fix the problem, I'll try that.
What mod manager do you use? Do you have Archive Invalidation enabled through your mod manager?
FoMM. Don't know. I'll check.
How do I check? And do I disable or enable?
OK, yes I do have it enabled. Is that fine or do I disable?
You should keep it enabled. Seems that this wasn't the cause of your problems then...
