From PS3 GOTY to PC GOTY Edition - MODS?
I’m in the process of getting through NV on my PS3 - but I’m aware of just how many fixes and mods there are for the PC version. I hear about Fallout Mod Manager, Nexus Mod Manager, YUP, YUP+, Jawyer Original, JSawyer Ultimate, DarnifiedUI and even NMC’s (sorry if I got that wrong) very popular texture pack.

I think I’d at least like to experience NV once more before using something like Project Nevada (which I hear is excellent), A Tale of Two Wastelands, Project Brazil (sorry if I got THAT wrong) and other overhaul mods.

What are considered the essential vanilla+ mods for playing NV on the PC? (Recently bought a high-end gaming PC specifically for games like STALKER and all it’s mods).

I know of script extenders, anti crash, non-corrupting save file mods, 4gb extenders - and even discussions on whether the original JSawyer patch is the ‘purest’ way of playing NV - as opposed to the Ultime version which I’ve heard even fixes that patch’s bugs

Any help would be appreciated!

I'd try, A World of Pain, adds much more in terms of exploring and dungeon clearing
Well you seem to have a pretty good understanding so far, especially for a first playthrough. Graphical mods do a great deal of enhancing the vanilla game, which let's be fair, is not very appealing. Your choice in these are completely subjective however, so chose.

*note that ENBs are very finicky in this game, proceed with caution.

Personally I always use this guide as an outline when creating my heavily modded games.

http://wiki.step-project.com/User:EssArrBee/FalloutNewVegas

I don't install every mod on the list and I don't always do every step and I always add my own personal mods. But is nice to have some sense of direction. It allows you to keep a level of "freedom" when modding your game. All you have to do is install similar mods at the same time. For example install all your other companion mods when the guide tells you to install its companion mod. Also allows you to keep a good load order.

Its also really good for learning some of the more advanced things of modding Fallout NV and in the end can get you a really enjoyable and hopefully stable game.

Thanks very much for the replies - I mean, I knew there were tons of mods for new Vegas but HOLY MOLY, I did NOT expect that many. I think that’s part of why I’m a bit antsy when it comes to modding this game - there are just so many ways to go about it!
