Hotkey CTD bug fix (Possible solution)

Problem: Game suddenly starts crashing every time you try to set a hotkey weapon or item. You open your pip-boy, go to weapons, then hit a number key to hotkey one of your weapons to that number, and BAM.... crash to desktop. Is this happening to you?

SOLUTION:

Well this worked for me, anyway. On PC. Might work on console as well, someone else can verify.

1. Open pip-boy, go to weapons list.
2. Drop every weapon currently assigned to a hotkey. (right-click each one)
3. If you have stimpaks or any other item hotkey'd, drop them too (all of them)
4. Close pip-boy
5. Pick everything up.
6. Bring up the pip-boy again, go to weapons. If not all your weapons are showing, simply close and reopen pip-boy and all should be there.
7. Begin reassigning your favorite weapons/items back to your hotkeys, which should now be working.


That's it.



I've played this game a dozen times through, never had this problem crop up until now. It happened mid-game, after I'd entered the Big MT was when i first noticed it occuring. I can't find anything online that nails down exactly where or what triggers it, others have had the same trouble during different phases of their games so it may be that it's random. But if anyone else ever does run into this one I hope this helps. And thanks to a certain individual from another forum whose post clued me in to trying the above.
