Should i start this game without any DLC's?
This is the first time i will be playing this game.

In the "Data Files" section of the client, nothing is ticked except for the FalloutNV.esm.

But i have a bunch of things in there, should i just tick them all and start playing with everything activated or do you think i would get a better experience by playing the main campaign first and then adding the DLC's as i go along?

To me, playing the complete game is the only way for me, DLC included. But if you end up not liking New Vegas (more probable if you came from Fallout 4) the DLC won't help too much. So I'd say play the game first. If you end up liking it, then you can try out the DLC. The only thing is if you play the Dead Money DLC beware it's crazy difficult and annoying at times, requires a lot of patience. You'll either really hate it or really love it.

Dead Money is the greatest DLC. you are missing a lot of fun in there. its 2018, and you didnt buy the Game of the year edition?

I'll play with all the DLC, because it seems like they are kind of stand-alone stuff that i can do whenever i please.

and i came to NV because i couldn't stand Fallout 4, or 3 for that matter, or anything made by Bethesda in house devs...i just cannot get into it, I need some substance, and i heard this was the one to play for that. also, obsidian.

much love and thanx

i have the goty edition, i think, because i have all of the DLC's, they are just not activated in the Data Files, but i''ll get on that now.

You can activate the dlc right from the start, they are separate areas and it is clearly telegraphed to you when you are about to enter one. You can simply play through the base game without ever touching them.

Gun runners arsenal is an exception as it adds lots of weapons to the merchants inventories, but that should not influence your experience.

Couriers stash is another exception -it gives you a bunch of items at the start of the game (making the game easier) - you can just stash them away in some random box if you dont want them.

I always disable the Courier stash, I don't need a bunch of extra items to start out with... :\

play with DLC because it also includes some bug fixes, notably lonesome road.

not only bug fixes, but also extra perks for developing your character, higher level cap, more crafting recipes and old world blues adds an extra radio station.

i recommend all DLCs activated, plus get some mods. At least YUP for some bugfixes, maybe unofficial patch plus for some more fixes (altough it currently breaks ghouls, so you will also need GhoulRadTweaks, too), anti crash won't hurt either. I also like the goodsprings home, altough thats just if you want an early house for yourself with all the extras to craft stuff and lotsa labeled storage.

This is a very good point - the dlc in general augment the game, but they dont drastically change the overall experience.

You can't play the dlcs after finnishing the main campaign cause the game will end after it.

The game creates a separate autosave before the finale (and it clearly tells you that this is the point of no return) - so you can always go back and play the dlcs, wrap up quests, do whatever you want.

Isn't there a mod that let's you play after the main story?
Kvinden May 21, 2018 @ 9:17am
It's not because you have the DLC that you must (or can) play them from the start.
I must say I don't play the main quest, so dlc are the most important part of the game. Without them the game grows quickly boring because there is no real freeplay.
But on your first play you can try without them.

Better start a new game. Or play fallout 3.
Here, due to the way the story was written there is no possible post quest game.
