https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Trigger_Discipline
"Trigger Discipline does not affect the rate of fire on fully-automatic weapons. This also applies to Fast Shot. This may not actually be a bug but intended behavior, as the real-life concept of trigger discipline does not change the rate of fire of a firearm; only the act of pulling the trigger itself."
https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Fast_Shot
"Fast Shot does not appear to affect the rate of fire of automatic weapons when used in real-time, only in V.A.T.S. "
Fast Shot is great. Faster and better damage output in exchange for less accuracy, which only really comes into play with gun with noticeble spread or in V.A.T.S., although it's already kinda unreliable to hit things in V.A.T.S. anyways.
Trigger Discipline has its use if you play more carefully and conservatively. Less DPS, but you're more likely to nail a shot in a critical area from a distance or in V.A.T.S. If that's your thing, then this trait is great.
I always felt more accurate when I selected it though, but I guess that's just the power of placebo effect.
I don't see anything in those articles saying it doesn't affect automatic accuracy.
more costly weapons like the AMR or explosives would obviously benefit more from less VAT costs and firing speed.
Then again alternatively if it doesn't make a big difference more precise > faster firing.
I think it boils down to what perks you'll use too. If you wanna make a mostly agility VAT based build then obviously less costly VAT usage will benefit from fast shot. If not then use trigger discpline, which sorta also benefits rifles and pistols more than other weapons.
