You'll also get into khan territory quicker, which is nice and convenient. Contrary to the memes, going this way isn't particularly hard if you're not godawful at combat. Going through the deathclaws in quarry junction isn't exactly hard, either, but is potentially harder. If you were paying attention when you looted Goodsprings, you'll find you have a lot of stealth boys, which can be used to skip through the deathclaws. If you want to fight, pick off the more annoyingly placed ones with whatever mid tier ranged weapon you have, with a minefield of powder charges and frag mines in front of you.
The first time I ever played the game, I went straight north. The hardest obstacle is the sometimes silly amount of big radscorpions before the cazadores. Early on, the only thing you have that can reliable do anything to them is shotgun slugs.
If you keep going further north you'll reach the atom bomb (wild wasteland only) and jacobstown which you'll find your super mutant companion lily. go a little north east through the forest road and you'll find some caves worth looting and eventually the crashed ufo near one of the farms (wildwasteland only). The alien commander has the alien blaster with 150 cells which all do insane crit % and damage.
If you feel balsy enough you can actually find vault 19 as well as a backroads towards the temporary khan camp where you can get a mission to find the missing chems, but you'll have to go through a couple of young and adult deathclaws.
TBH though going through that route is probably >>> greater than going through the normal route south then east and up north to the strip and the gun runners. You'll deal with a few fiends but aside from that it's less tedious.
cazadors are pushovers if you get the drop on them
death claws are the real enemy. Those you should go straight to the gun runners around the map, sell alot of ♥♥♥♥, get the AMR + some rounds and just go to town on the over sized lizards.
only thing cazadors are a threat is in their large groups and if you get hit by their stinger. If you got enough antivenom or take em out from a distance you should be good.
