Is there anything worthwhile north of goodsprings?
I felt pretty ballsy in my new game today and decided to travel along the path with all the cazadors. So far i've managed to scrape my way up to the state park and great khan camp but I have yet to find any decent loot. Should I just abandon this and go to primm?

If u keep hgoing down the cadazor infested road u should see a burned corpse on your left , if u follow on that path u should find some good loot a flamethower, a fire axe or two and greatkhan armor bit there will be a few cadazors u need to kill first there is also a hill ontop there that has the grave of chance the greatkhan which has his unique weapon chance knife(combat knife). heading down the road should lead u to bonnie spring where the viper gang is located. They have some decent loot . The viper leader has the unique brass knukle weapon called love and hate also she will wear the combat armor and another follower shpuld have the reinforced combat armor, one of th will also be carrying a trail rifle which is pretty good for the starting lvl.

its a shortcut to new vegas with lots of pain, if its not worth it to you swing the long way around the road and make some stops on your way

Never go North in the beginning of the game! The Cazadors, Radscoprpions and Deathclaws will tear you apart.

In the burned out town south of the khans camp there's one of the best unarmed weapons in the game

Don't forget to go to quarry junction naked and unarmed, you will have wonderful experience !

If you go hard north, you'll end up in cazadore land. There's also some moderately powerful raiders in an abandoned town, the killing of which guarantee a whole bunch of very useful and strong gear. Combat armor, metal armor, various grenades, the unique spiked knuckles, trail carbine, and a bunch of other stuff.

You'll also get into khan territory quicker, which is nice and convenient. Contrary to the memes, going this way isn't particularly hard if you're not godawful at combat. Going through the deathclaws in quarry junction isn't exactly hard, either, but is potentially harder. If you were paying attention when you looted Goodsprings, you'll find you have a lot of stealth boys, which can be used to skip through the deathclaws. If you want to fight, pick off the more annoyingly placed ones with whatever mid tier ranged weapon you have, with a minefield of powder charges and frag mines in front of you.

The first time I ever played the game, I went straight north. The hardest obstacle is the sometimes silly amount of big radscorpions before the cazadores. Early on, the only thing you have that can reliable do anything to them is shotgun slugs.

Quarry Junction has a couple of good weapons, if you're up to the challenge.
In terms of use, I would say you will more end up with a caps gold mine, as well as early intro into the Great Khans, the Fiends, NCR base and New Vegas so it is real easy to get some good loot. I actually did it in my first play through out of pure desire to get past the hard enemies and when I got past the Great Khans I had levelled up well and turned right around to go the 'normal' way with some extra gear and levels. I tell you I still had hell in the quarry after all that LOL

The Fiends have some pretty good energy weapons... well for the early game.

If you can avoid the Deathclaws and Scorpions there is a snowy area with a town full of friendly super mutants
going northwest near the khan camp you fight more cazadores and find a supermutant with some goodies including a fat man (all worn out but still worth it).

If you keep going further north you'll reach the atom bomb (wild wasteland only) and jacobstown which you'll find your super mutant companion lily. go a little north east through the forest road and you'll find some caves worth looting and eventually the crashed ufo near one of the farms (wildwasteland only). The alien commander has the alien blaster with 150 cells which all do insane crit % and damage.

If you feel balsy enough you can actually find vault 19 as well as a backroads towards the temporary khan camp where you can get a mission to find the missing chems, but you'll have to go through a couple of young and adult deathclaws.

TBH though going through that route is probably >>> greater than going through the normal route south then east and up north to the strip and the gun runners. You'll deal with a few fiends but aside from that it's less tedious.

stealth bois and silenced weapons are a god sent

cazadors are pushovers if you get the drop on them
death claws are the real enemy. Those you should go straight to the gun runners around the map, sell alot of ♥♥♥♥, get the AMR + some rounds and just go to town on the over sized lizards.

only thing cazadors are a threat is in their large groups and if you get hit by their stinger. If you got enough antivenom or take em out from a distance you should be good.
