Not the nicest way to play but an interesting way, it reminds me of the timer in Fallout 1.
I always imagine that the more you wait, the legion broke the Mojave by their army being so large that the FPS dropped.
As a result, I always finished the game and some of its DLCs under the level 20 or 15.
