Need help with the BSA Decompressor.
So Im following a guide to improve performance and it wants me to run this decompressor program, to do that i have to give it the directory to my installation of new vegas and i did that, but when i hit decompress it says that its not installed there but it ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is. So im reaching out to anyone who might know whats up. It does give reintalling it as a solution but i dont want to do that. That would mean i would have to follow all of these stupud guides again and that takes too damn long.

Make sure the directory looks like "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas". Just that, you don't have to open/add "data" either.

Oh and let me know if it works for you, all that tool does for me is delete a lot of things and replace them with big exclamation marks. Good luck.

I had mine working by just simply moving it to the desktop.

You don't want to unpack your BSAs unless you're very well versed in how they work within your load order... and even then, you generally still won't want to do it.

Putting aside the additional ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about required when slotting new mods into an unpacked set up, unless you have a blazing fast drive such as an SSD, the time saved by reading the compressed data from the HDD outweighs the time it takes to unpack during runtime - so you'll actually get better performance running with BSAs anyway.

This is correct.

Also I had found out that the reason why errors will keep popping up, is that the ini files is being overwritten by the launcher.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
