i was recomending mutated hound steaks because they heal and cure some rads.
I find it to be a great moneymaking perk, because you can pick up tons of the stuff by killing even the wimpiest creatures in the Mojave, and dump it on merchants for tons of caps. With it being particularly useful for if you have some big gear to sell, and you can add some sausage or paste to fill out what caps the merchant has left.
And of course it means you will pretty much always will have healing items, pretty snazzy for Dead Money if you ask me.
To be frank however, what would be probably the best food related perk(s) are Cannibal, Ghastly Scavenger, and Tribal Wisdom, which allow you to eat the corpses of humans; ghouls and supermutants; and mutated insects respectively. Getting all three will allow you the means to reduce your hunger in most areas of the game via the comsumption of corpses. Of course they are rather beastly, Cannibal and Ghastly Scavenger moreso then Tribal Wisdom, but then that could also be useful.
