ENB Preset Not Working
I'm sure this is a result of my lack of ingenuity or just because I haven't looked hard enough, but I installed an ENB and Preset (Enhanced Shaders) on my PC, and I managed to get everything working, including 4GB compatibility, NVSE compatibility, and the ENB itself to work. However, the Enhanced Shaders mod, it just doesn't work. Whenever I start the game up, ENB is there, but the ES mod has no effect in the game. I've read the instructions to no avail, and most guides on the internet of which I've read only cover issues that I've already solved. I'm mainly just curious to see if anyone else still has this problem, and if there is a solution. Here are the exact steps I followed when installing. (Note: Before you ask, my PC isn't the problem. This has nothing to do with weak hardware, just an error in the installation process {hopefully}).

>> INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS -- REQUIRED -- READ THEM!!!!!!

1) COPY MOD FILES:
Copy all the files from the 'INSTALLATION FILES' folder into your Fallout New Vegas root folder, where the FalloutNV.exe is located; do NOT install the files into your Fallout NV 'Data' folder. The root folder is generally found at the following location:

64-Bit systems: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\fallout new vegas
32-Bit systems: C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\fallout new vegas

2) DOWNLOAD ENBSERIES:
- Download ENBseries 0.249 from www.enbdev.com/mod_falloutnv_v0249.htm, bottom of page. If the file is no longer available, download the newest version listed on http://www.enbdev.com/download_mod_falloutnv.htm

3) INSTALL ENBSERIES:
Extract the ZIP file you download and extract the contents. It will contain two folders, 'Wrapper Version' and 'Injector Version'. From the 'Wrapper Version' folder. copy ONLY the d3d9.dll file into your Fallout New Vegas root folder, where the FalloutNV.exe is located.

3a) NOTE for Users with nVidia Optiums graphics cards:
This solution is recommended: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33227
Otherwise, instead of installing the d3d9.dll from the 'Wrapper Version' folder, install from the 'Injector Version' folder the following three files: enbseries.dll, enbinjector.exe and enbinjector.ini. You must then RUN enbinjector.exe prior to launching Fallout New Vegas in order for the mod to work; you may close it ater your game has started. I cannot confirm that ENBinjector functionality works as intended, nor do I provide support for it.

3b) FOR USERS OF THE 4GB LAUNCHER MOD FROM http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/35262/?
Using the 4GB Launcher mod is NOT recommended for use with this mod. You MAY use them together, but for me it RUINS performance. If you still want to use the 4GB Launcher Mod, install it normally, then install the enbseries d3d9.dll file into the 'exes' folder created by the 4GB Launcher mod. All other enbseries-related files should remain in your FalloutNV root folder.

4) CONFIGURE YOUR ENBLOCAL.INI FILE
You are free to use the ENBlocal.ini file provided with this mod, though you may have better results configuring one specific to your personal computer setup. For various enblocal.ini presets by the ENBseries creator, download the following mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/51670/?

5) FALLOUT NV LAUNCHER SETTINGS:
Pay attention to the following:

5a) DISABLE ANTIALIASING:
About Antialiasing: ENBseries is NOT compatible with MSAA (Multisampling Antiasliasing), i.e. the standard AA available from the Fallout New Vegas options menu. ENBseirs does however include several of its own AA options that may be enabled in the enblocal.ini file:
- Edge AA algorithm by Boris Vorontsov (enabled by default, can be toggled in-game)
- Accumulative AA algorithms by Boris Vorontsov (enabled by default, CANNOT be toggled in-game)- SuperSampling Resolution: when enabled, adds a resolutiuon to your launcher window that is 4x your monitor size, but will be automatically scaled to fit it. Very pretty but also performance intensive.

Just remember - USING MULTISAMPLING ALONG WITH THIS MOD PRODUCES A FLAT GREY SCREEN OR OTHER ERRORS-- you've been warned!

5b) DISABLE WATER DISPLACEMENT
Disable 'Water Displacement' in the Fallout New Vegas launcher settings. Leaving this enabled will cause severe visual artifacts with some waterareas.

5c) OTHER SETTINGS:
Optionally, also disable any Anisotropic filtering from the Fallout NV Launcher and your GPU control panel. The mod implements 16x- anisotropic filtering by default, and this can be configured in the enblocal.ini file.

You may try reducing view distances if you find that the game performs too slow with the mod enabled.

nVidia Users: Also make sure you have Ambient Occlusion DISABLED in your GPU Control Panel, as using that along with the ENBseries SSAO effect will murder your performance.

6) ENABLE HDR MODE:
Makes sure you have HDR mode enabled in the Fallout New Vegas Launcher.

7) IN-GAME USAGE:
The mod will now be enabled by default when you start the game; you will see some 'ENBseries' version text at the top left of the screen during startup if the mod is installed correctly. Once you have entered the game wold:
- Hit Shift-F12 to toggle the entire mod on and off
- Hit the '*' key above your number pad to toggle a simple FPS counter on and off
- Hit the 'Insert' key to capture a high-quality screenshot in your Fallout NV root folder with a filename in the format 'enb_xx_xx_xx.bmp'. This screenshot will capture ENB effects while Steam screenshots, for example, will not.
- Hit 'Shift-Enter' to load the on-screen ENBseries.ini editor, allowing you to make many changes in real-time. Be sure to click 'Save' at the top after editing to preserve your changes!! NOTE: Some settings CANNOT be modified in-game, and must be modified in the enbseries.ini or enblocal.ini files themselves.

UPDATE: I find this pretty funny, but whenever I wait in-game, when the game transitions forward an hour, the Enhanced Shaders Preset activates. So obviously the game recognizes it's there, but as soon as I'm finished waiting, it disappears again.

EDIT: Also as a side note, I had this exact same problem with Skyrim and Fallout 4, however the fix in Fallout 4 was another file I had to install.

Alright, I ended up switching to Rudy ENB instead, much better in my opinion

If you have the same problem as I did, feel free to post in the comments
The in-game editor shows up, but when I click "save" and "apply" nothing changes.

Jay's ENB is better imo (you just have to get rid of that bloom). Then use Nevada Skies for lighting(despite what the mod author says, it actually looks good imo).

@Hentai Hero
Depends on what you're changing, I've gotten relatively better at this sort of stuff, so if you could give me more specifics such as what enb you are using and what you are changing
Hello, I know this thread is kinda old, but I'm having the exact same problem, can you tell how to fix it? I already tested 2 presets and still doesn't work, didn't try Rudy tho

Just installed exactly the way it's described in the Readme file, ENB loads, but the ENB preset (enhanced shaders) doesn't.
Already tried with Dynamo and Blackout and I still have the same problem.

Do you get the message box in the upper left corner when you start the game

Uhh, do you have transparency multisampling disabled? for some reason most ENB's don't warn you that it will probably conflict.
