There's a duffel bag with guns and other supplies right out of the gate
Though taking either Medicine Stick or All American will ease the start of the DLC a little.
If theres anything I would advise taking it would be your favourite pistol calibre SMG as high DPS and JHP rounds combine to dominate Zion Canyon (as well as being useful almost anywhere).
Though theres plenty of great guns to be found there, I would rank the .45 auto pistol (which you find extremely early), .45 SMG and Survivalist Rifle amoing the best weapons in the game.
If your at a high level the human enemies will have top tier weapons for you to pick from.
1911 pistol and ammo can purchase from Graham and Survivalist Rifle is a good unique weapon for gun build.
War club with mod make it hit harder and faster is pretty nice. Fire sword and Bear/Deathclaws weapon are also good unique weapon in dlc for melee lover.
So at least bring 1 for your handy gun and a grab of ammo to survive the first few round of encounter. Reach the Dead horse tribe and you will be fine. I personally advice your choise, Medicine stick since it has a real kill per shot and not waste ammo too much. But Imo, I'd bring more 12.7mm ammo with Li'l Devil at first because it share ammo with Survivalist Rifle. I use them until I gain Graham's perk and then switch to 1911.
