The ending many seem to ignore (Honest Hearts: Spoilers within)
Title, Many seem to think there are only 2 endings to Honest Heart's main storyline...in truth, there is a 3rd, it requires a bit of digging but the biggest things I've found regarding this:

Help Joshua kill the white-legs, but spare Salt-upon-Wounds

Encourage the Sorrows to fight by your side

Find out the truth about Waking Cloud's Husband (that he died) and tell her the truth, insisting that Daniel did it for her own good

The result:

Joshua eventually soothes his bloodlust, he maintains his vigil but only to protect the tribes the New caananites sought to protect.

The Sorrows and Dead Horses DO harden themselves against the hardships of violence/war, but they are tempered by your (the courier's) mercy when you tell Joshua to stay his hand in the White Leg leader's execution. They will defend themselves but they don't risk becoming violent savages by killing the white legs outright.

Waking Cloud; torn up by the fact she lost her husband, marries into the Dead Horses, solidifying the tribe's ties to each other and ensuring they will protect one another in times of need.

Daniel feels remorse that the Sorrows lost their innocence, but respects that you did all you could to make the best of this worst case scenario.

Lastly, the White Legs ARE exterminated, but not by your hands, rather by the raiders/scavengers of the wasteland, pressing on them in their hours of weakness and scattering them.

The Consequences (from my perspective):

Daniel is still a coward weeping for his children's loss of innocence, but they don't turn into the savage warriors he'd feared (In truth Daniel is, in my mind, a bit TOO bleeding heart, although I understand his reasoning).

Joshua becomes far less volatile/war-like, tempered by your encouragement. He finds peace at last without needing to kill everyone.

The Tribes (Dead Horses and Sorrows) hold their ground while still remaining a peaceful mindset by your actions. If anything the marriage between their tribes would only serve to solidify their ties, making them work together against outside threats.

The whitelegs are exterminated, preventing Caesar from bringing another tribe into the fold without needless violence by the former tribe's actions.

The Happy Trails Caravan are allowed to make a full recovery in time, not only bringing in outsider supplies, but also allowing another trade group (always valued in an era where mass-transit is a rarity) to thrive.

All in all, I would say this is the true "Perfect" ending

Thoughts?

That's not really a third ending it's just a variation of one of the two main endings that has been done by many already. I've done this exact combination because over the tons of times beating It, I've never brought myself to do the dumb Daniel ending (I've never had a character that would see it as logical ) so I've done every combination of the Joshua ending.

But I agree that it's the "best" ending for all parties.

The actual third ending is the chaos in zion ending though. Which I've done twice

I say "Third" because honestly chaos would be the 4th (and 'ultimate bad') ending.

Ultimately I see 4 endings:

1) See the tribes become savages as daniel fears

2) See the tribes flee, losing their home and ultimately becoming timid prey in a heartless wasteland

3) See 1/2 combined to create a tempered society

4) Kill everyone, as is always an option in a 'good' RPG.

Killing the dead horses and sorrows if you're a Legion Courier.
Means another tribe for the Legion to absorb ^^

There's actually 4 main endings (5 if you end the dlc prematurely by killing daniel)
