Dlc level recommendations
I have all the DLC, what order should I play them in, and what level? I know lonesome road is a high level DLC.

Thanks :)

I've done dead money before and I died at the end. Is it possible to escape?

From what I've seen there is no consensus from the community on the order. Some say one thing others another.

Community consensus doesn't matter if there's an official order.
It matters when your order is wrong.
Honest Hearts always comes first, then OWB, then Dead Money, and lastly Lonesome Road.

Your arbitrary order doesn't matter. Again, there is an official release order.
Do you have to be an ass? It really doesn't matter what order you play it in. When it does, is when you're playing them for story.

Dead Money released 12/21/10.
Honest Hearts released 5/17/11.
Old World Blues released 7/19/11.
Lonesome Road released 9/20/11.
GRA and Courier's Stash released 9/27/11.

The only thing that should determine the order one does the DLC in is personal preference. There is no other valid reason.

Lonesome Road comes last as it has references to the battle of hoover dam and references the other DLC.

Honest Hearts comes first because it's more of a side content than an intertwined DLC.

Old World Blues and Dead Money are honestly interchangeable, but OWB has a lower reccomended level and more backstory on DM.

Thus, this order is the optimum way to enjoy the story. It's also the correct way to play by level, like the op asked. The game literally gives you the reccomended levels.
Honest Hearts: 10-15
Old World Blues: 15
Dead Money: 20
Lonesome Road: 25
It does so because each DLC has better enemies & skill checks, skill checks that are much easier to pass at the reccomended level.

He is 100% right. they weren't released in Level order...which the game gives...I almost always start with Honest Hearts because .45s ftw and it is fully playable even below 10 if you aren't being dumb. One point I even went into LR with a level 10...pain the the rear but holy crap was I leveled and geared (Was on PS3 so unmodded).

If it's so optimal, why didn't the developers release it in that order? Because nobody cares.\

If any order is objectively "right", it's the release order. Otherwise, it's all subjective.
1. It really isn't subjective, all of it can be easily solved with logic.
2. They released it in that order for whatever reason, but - they also gave it level reccomendations, showing their intended playthrough.
As for why i'm correct either way:
This is why.

Nice to know the NV Community is really childish. Level Order means Order based on Level. Bethesda did this neat thing that keeps being brought up...They recomended levels. If we order the DLC by that Recomended Level there is an Order.

We can order the DLC however we want. Doesn't make any order necessarily better.
Moro.
When the OP asks for an order based on level, and the game itself gives an order based on level, I'd say it's pretty clear whether or not it's a fact or opinion. I'm not asking you to accept my order as the all supreme. I'm literally just giving the order specifically reccomended by Obsidian for new players such as OP. That's it.
Sabre_Two Nov 25, 2017 @ 5:13pm
Don't Devs. put forth DLC ideas and then the Publisher dictates the order? I work in a Police Department not the Game Industry but this is my understanding of the process...in such case that could warrent the order of release...or maybe Obsidian wanted more time on the format (not likely seemings how they should have plenty from FO3).

+1 Ever since my first time I played through the first DLC, I go in this order and it makes the most sense story wise to me.

Level wise the devs say that honest hearts is playable at level 10, OWB at 15, Dead money at 20 and Lonesome road at 28, dead money and lonesome road are especially hard compared to the other ones and the base game
