best non unique weapons?
I recently started a new game with personal challenges. It is very hard difficulty, hardcore mode, no unique weapons, no stashing (only what i can carry on me). I'm wondering what weapons are best to mod up or otherwise look for for this play through.

never really used that much. I'll have to look into what mods it has. Might pick up the shotgun surgeon perk if I go that way. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm not goin to mess around with console commands for this. I've already used the unique weapons a lot in previous play thoughs so I'll just use basic stuff this time. I might try the ranger sequoia when I find one. If I recall they are quite rare (almost to the point of being unique). Thanks for the input though.

A good sniper rifle (or anti material) is a good idae to work into my loadout but they and their ammo tend to be a bit heavy which I'll have to keep an eye on. The machine gun is probably not a good choice because of weight. especially if I'm already carrying a sniper. Thanks for the input.

Honestly for sneaks that basic laser rifle with the splitter is pretty stupid for what you can do with sneak attack criticals. Not too expensive to maintain either.

I'll have to give that a try once I get some more points in energy weapons. sounds fun and I haven't used it much before. Thanks.

If you want to use the basic .308 sniper rifle there is a weapon mod that drops the weight of the gun to just 3, making it the lightest ballistic sniper in the base/vanilla FNV. You can buy the mod from the Gun Runners shop .

Grenade launcher is one of my favorites (though some stated above may be better options), Laser RCW is pretty good, Flamers/Incinerators can be fun, Plasma rifle is very good.

As a general rule, I'd say explosive weapons are one of the best categories ; they deal a lot of damage, cripple limbs, and help you get rid of big threats/groups of enemies.
Even dynamite or frag grenades are good at this, provided that you can aim where your enemy is going. Mines and C4 can make great traps.

haven't used the brush gun much. It would probably be a versatile addition.

I have a tendancy to under use explosives. I should try to use them more. A grenade launcher is probably worth carrying for dealing with groups.

Riot shotgun.
Tri-beam rifle full mod.

Explosives are dangerous due to fighting in buildings, caves, and other cramped spaces, a lot.

just use the unique BB gun, crits happen often enough and ammo is light and cheap. 100 crit damage is more than enough.
