If the launcher lets you pick the resolution, then enjoy doing what no one could when the artists made the lower definition textures.
I may sometimes play older games at a higher resolution simply because I forget to downshift, but otherwise I think you're going to peak at 1920x1200 or so.
That silly 1080p resolution didnt really exist back then either, so you're going to do better with 1920x1200 and it'll look better than 1080 anyway.
Or you can turn into a troll, but the oblivion forum may be more suitable for that.
What would you exactly gain from 4k? More crisp ♥♥♥♥ textures and models?
Sure there is mods. But there is "just so much" one can do with mods. It just ain't worth it. But if you insist... here.

Not sure if you tried it. And I never used over 1440x900. So yeah, no guarantee.
Should be able to play in 4k if that's what res your monitor is
You don't really understand how 4k works, huh? I've been playing it in 4k with all the NMC Ultra Texture mods on my 55 inch TV and its a real gamechanger. These old games just look like crap at low resolution on modern TVs and Monitors.
