What I think each shotgun is used by:

Single Shotgun: Noobs

Caravan Shotgun: People who just like the O/U look of it.

Lever Shotgun: People looking for a discount Riot Shotgun.

Hunting Shotgun: People who think Shotguns are portrayed unrealistically in video games and immediately try to get a choke for it to increase the range (which I do agree with) or people who just want to maximize how much damage 1 shell can do at a range.

Riot Shotgun: People who want to exterminate every Cazador in existence and make them go the way of the Cliffracer.

Sawed-Off Shotgun: People who want to feel like the flippin' Doomguy.

Tri-Beam Laser Rifle > Shotguns.

Single shotgun is alright for getting the "Ne! Ne!" achievement for easy XP if you aren't going to use guns.

Lever Action is for cow boy perk.

Hunting shotgun has the best damage per shot.

Tri-beam is the god among shotguns.
