What is Setup.exe and DVD-ROM folder?
I ran the game as an administrator and clicked play. A message popped up saying that FNV does not appear to be installed and the installer could not be found. It then says to explore my DVD-ROM folder and select setup.exe to install the game. Honestly, I'm lost.

your profile says you played over 7 hours. something changed. did you add mods and this started happening?

No. That's pobably from me trying to get the game to work. I did previously own the game and had the same problem. I just forgot how to fix it :\

perhaps try verifying game files. if the installer cant be found, at least one file is missing.
if that dont work, try uninstall/reinstall.

Start Fallout NV from within the steam application. What you're doing isn't gonna work.

A long time ago, in a gaming galaxy far, far away, we had these discs called DVDs that games came on instead of being able to download them through services like Steam. They were just like most other applications and had to be installed manually, by running a program called Setup.exe on the disc.

Fallout New Vegas was one of those games that once came on a DVD. It still thinks it is.
