That would make sense but if that's true I hope I would get some precise details as to why. Also I didn't have a chance with these three deathclaws I just fought (with TGM enabled because f*ck fighting them normally/up close when I get one shot) but I sniped a deathclaw in the distance with my anti-material rifle using a incendiary round and THAT almost one shot IT, haha. So yeah if you have a chance to sniping them from a distance with a high powered rifle using special ammo is a good way to deal with them. My guns skill is at 100 and I have 8 strength so I figure that helped a lot too.
I did something similar after my first encounter with them. I wrote about it in a comment above. TL;DR, anti-material rifle sneak attack with explosive or incendiary ammo=deathclaw bits everywhere.
You need a good weapon that is able to take them down quick.
Good idea but you know what's ironic about that? Half the time your character can't jump up onto a rock or anything above waist height because the game won't allow you to jump that high. It's why instead of just scaling a mountain the game forces to you walk around a huge mountain to get to your destination that's right over the mountain.
That being said, just abuse the A.I.
- There's a trailer I think you can climb on for higher cover, and underneath it you can find stockpiles of strong ammo. Be careful, though, it's a trap if you go in.
- Try using YCS/186 if you can. Shots should cripple their legs easily.
- Poison?
- Since ED-E can't die, use him as bait.
- Shoot randomely to get them to come over if they run away.
- Etc. If you still can't get by, just help ED-E make satchel charges and farm them for better weapons or lay a bunch down and use them as a trap for the unsuspecting deathclaw that comes to murder you. :)
I couldn't spot the two deathclaws ahead of the trailer with my anti-material rifle from a distance so I could only aggro/skill those two deathclaws up close and I had sold my satchel charges because I didn't know how they worked and thought I wouldn't be encountering any deathclaws before that area. That scripted deathclaw when you loot those two containers full of all that ammo is ridiculous. He spawns out of nowhere. Also ED-E got knocked unconscious in one-hit as well.
- Go into sneak mode, and shoot as far as you can near the area they're in. You don't have to even see them, but the noise will make them investigate the area and bring them to you. Might take awhile for them to come over though!
'I had sold my satchel charges because I didn't know how they worked'
- As far as I remember, they're just OP mines, right? Talk to ED-E and get him to make some. You can farm this for infinite caps, considering materials are bountiful and once the vendors in the Divide run below 2000, they instantly restock.
'thought I wouldn't be encountering any deathclaws before that area'
- God help you. First time playing Lonesome Road, huh?
' That scripted deathclaw when you loot those two containers full of all that ammo is ridiculous.'
- I'm not sure if this'll work, but you can always stockpile mines ontop or outside the trailer. It'll die as soon as it spawns, but you might killyourself. Gotta test.
'Also ED-E got knocked unconscious in one-hit as well'
- So? He's literally unkillable. If he gets knocked out, he'll eventually get back up. Use this to run like hell or as a distraction.
