Gypsum Train yard

Normally I expect some rare weapon or something for clearing a train yard full of deathclaws (although blind) and I couldn't find anything, I also didn't see an alpha/mother so that may have something to do with it. Is there any loot or did I waste 3 stealth boys and somewhere between 10-20 stims for nothing?

Maybe, but that doesn't explain why a good bit of the blind deathclaws were young, or the mix of regular deathclaws in the group .The ants as easy food does work well, though.

I also (after looking over their dead bodies) realised that the blind deathclaws horns are severly cut off/stubby, which supports my idea that they are deathclaws suffering from reccesive natural blindness and other features.

Apparently it can irritate the eyes, and cause respirtory problems as well. I don't think it would blind a creature as big as a deathclaw, so possibly it is a genetic defect caused by radiation?

It is possible. There is a Gypsum Quarry north of Las Vegas so that might be it.
