Gypsum Train yard
Normally I expect some rare weapon or something for clearing a train yard full of deathclaws (although blind) and I couldn't find anything, I also didn't see an alpha/mother so that may have something to do with it. Is there any loot or did I waste 3 stealth boys and somewhere between 10-20 stims for nothing?

Why would you use up all that stuff to take them out? Just sit up in the hills nearby with a Hunting Rifle, or other type of sniping weapon, and pick them off one at a time. It's not the game's fault that you are using bad tactics.

I could of done it more efficiently, and I wasn't really blaiming the game for my use of materials. I asked the question of wether or not I was missing out on loot, I wasn't making any claims.

Why would you think that a deathclaw nest next to cazadore country would have any worthwhile loot?

It's the NV equivalent of toxic waste dump.

Spoiler once you kill the legendary death law you'll get a nice explosive weapon. Won't spoil it for you tho.

Spoiler: the ultimate explosive weapon you find has 100 explosives and a strength of 8 requirement, and eats tons of very heavy and expensive 40mm grenades.

Sorry, it just seemed like you were complaining about the encounter. But to answer your question, no there isn't much there. It's a good area for XP though.

Guess it could come off as kinda annoyed, but thanks.

There should be a star bottle cap in the house with the ant nest.

Other than that, no unique loot in that area.

I missed that, I was in the building and killed all the ants, which made me question why they were in there with the amount of deathclaws outside. I'll go get that when I play next. Also, quick question but why exactly are they labelled blind deathclaws?

No idea. I wish there was flavor text to give the area some backstory but no.

I assume the deathclaws where blinded by whatever they were mining there or the critters were too old? :3

Apparently it can irritate the eyes, and cause respirtory problems as well. I don't think it would blind a creature as big as a deathclaw, so possibly it is a genetic defect caused by radiation?

The blind deathclaws are just built as another deathclaw template that's a lower level and easier to kill than regular deathclaws. I assume they made them blind as a throwback to fallout 1 and 2 and the deathclaw ommelete story, where the chick says her grandma created the deathclaw ommelete and had a pet deathclaw until a traveller came and shot out his eyes.

This is a reference to the protagonist of fallout 2 who killed roses deathclaw, and a reference to both first two fallout as the way everybody killed deathclaws was by shooting them in the eye as it was their only weak point.

My guess is this is a very weak reference to that and these are retired deathclaws who were pushed to live there as they weren't strong enough to survive in quarry junction with other deathclaws who probably walk all over them, and I guess they use the giant ants as easy food.
