Why are tortillas round and not square?
You'd think if tortillas were square or rectangle you could fit more stuff in them and they'd roll into a burrito easier. Plus what about all that waste from the corners that need to be cut to make circles?

Round tortillas just seem illogical to me.

I would like a rectangular tortilla.

I know, right?
There's a place in my neighborhood that makes square tortillas.
I only buy from there, since they are logical.

Would you roll a joint or blunt with circular paper?
You could, but it would be pointless.

It's a little known fact that a round shape holds at least four times the chi of a rectangle. This is why all lasers are cylindrical, and not square, even when they're drawn over a series of rectangles - or even triangles.

The most powerful rectangular objects also universally aren't rectangular once you unlock their full hidden potential. For instance, the previously mentioned paper one uses to roll a blunt.

Meditate thusly on the spiritual significance of your bong.

Have you ever tried to make a tortilla bowl with a square tortilla? Didn't think so

In my country there are no square tortillas, only round ones. Strange. I have eaten those tortillas. Really good stuff.

Must be a regional thing. Different countries have different things. They know how to get around on things :sans:

I get my tortillas in bags. They are triangular and coated with some queso nacho, whatever that is.

Because tortilapans are round.

Because tortillas - if you're not living in the Midwest (where for some reason they call all their stuff by the wrong name - tortillas are 'wraps', 'chili' is sweet meat sauce over noodles, and pizza is 'deep dish') - aren't made by machines, they're made by people, at a little cart, as you watch, and its easier to roll it out by hand into a disk.

Same reason pizza is not round - unless you're buying frozen for some reason.

I believe you meant "Same reason pizza is round" there. Because it's the store bought frozen pizzas that are usually square, and the ones made fresh at a pizza place are round.

Tradition... and that's it...

In the early 20th century someone invented the wildly used machine to make tortillas that it is used in most tortillerias in Mexico. When he did it, he discovered that it was way easier to make square tortillas than round ones, also, it was easier to fill and close the taco and it was easier to keep the food inside.

But people just didn't liked them.

So he had to work more to find a way to make round tortillas with a machine, and well, he succeded and that's why we keep round tortillas.

Doesn't get that shape because you usually roll it into a ball first then when you press it, it naturally flattens into a circular/oval shape?
