and I am new to mods

The red exclamation marks means there are missing meshes. Make sure the mod is installed properly.

You need to reinstall the mod. Go back to your Data folder and first put the Meshes, Sound, and Textures folders in first and replace anything that pops up. Then depending on if you have All DLC, No DLC, or No GRA, only put in that specific ESP file. Lastly just to be safe get the EVE updater as well and replace what you just put in with the updated (which should be Sound, and Textures, and the ESP file.) It helps to have FOMM (http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/36901/?) and NVSE (http://nvse.silverlock.org/) although they are not needed. Open the FOMM if you have it and load it then run NVSE. If you don't have those then open the vanilla loader and load the mod there then run.

One other thing - do you have more than 135 plugins in your load order? The game has a bug where it starts to glitch out with load orders larger than that. Everything can be installed perfectly but it will still lose track of meshes (among other things).

Which does absolutely nothing for meshes. It's only needed for textures.

It's for using loose files instead of what's in the bsa files for when using replacers, hence the name. Non replacers work fine without it, assuming the assets are extracted into the right places and their internal file paths are correct.

Again, it's not needed for meshes, only textures. Mesh replacers work just fine without it.

thanks for this info. I will have to check my number when i play today. Is this limited to older systems, or also newer rigs?

It all depends on the mods that are installed. The hard coded limit is actually 256, which includes the esm files for the game itself. It's just that the more mods you have, the more of a chance there is for some sort of conflict. If the game is set up properly, there's no reason why you can't have more than 135 mods.
