Fallout 3 or New Vegas? First Fallout
Hi, I want to start playing this aclamated saga, but I don't know if is better to me to start playing Fallout 3 or NV... I'm a novel RPG player, so I would prefer to play the lightest game of both.

Thanks a lot :)

Acclaimed. Acclimated means used to it.
Lightest RPG wise? Fallout 3. You aren't gonna find many hard choices in there. Gameplay wise, New Vegas has better systems since it came out after Fallout 3. It also re-adds the trait system that was removed in Fallout 3, even though traits are entirely optional. I would still reccomend getting New Vegas, seeing as how both games require mods to run without crashing every few minutes on most people's computers, and it has quite a bit more things to do, especially with DLC. Max level on Fallout 3 is 30 (with the Broken Steel DLC) and 50 on New Vegas (With all 4 major story DLC). However, leveling skills is slower in New Vegas, which may feel rewarding to some and tedious to others. If you do choose either game, get the Ultimate edition, I think it's the only way to play either game.

New Vegas is definitely the more RPG-heavy of the two and stays true to the classic games Fallout 1/2. It's ALL about choice.

New Vegas is a much deeper rpg with actual consequences and real choices in quests. The main story has 4 big endings and tons of variations in endings, Telling about the outcome of every bug quest. The game has way more replay value as in one play through doing everything you'll only see about 50% of the games content as there are so many choices to do quests differebt ways and many different skill checks required.
New Vegas is also very dialogue heavy.

Fallout 3 only has 1 way to do the main quest, every side quest has only 2 choices and the difference is what reward you get, less powerful attributes and skills, less choice in weapons and character variations , very shallow dialogue when compared to new Vegas. The endings don't talk about any of the side quests and only goes off your karma and the 1 choice at the end of the game. But fallout 3 has it's strength in mindless exploring for the sake of exploring. The world looks cool and there's always something to find around every corner.

Fallout 3 is more like an open world explorer shooter with rpg elements with heavy emphasis on exploring and cool stuff for the sake of being cool and new Vegas is a more hardcore rpg with emphasis on quests and choices and less on exploring (both open worlds but fallout 3 is very open and you can go anywhere as everything scales to the player and new Vegas has tons of mountains blocking ways and high level stuff in certain areas on the map that sort of keep you from going there until your better equipped).

Fallout New Vegas

A decent RPG game with actual RPG elements. If you like branching quests and exploration, FNV does it nicely,

New Vegas, no contest. I don't know what you mean by 'lightest' but I can guess. I think you'll be done with Fallout 3 sooner, but that could just be my experience getting bored of it pretty fast. I'm playing New Vegas since 2010 and I'm not bored of it yet. Granted, I do mod it these days, but I beat it five or six times before doing that and I was never bored.

I think the main differences come down to Fallout 3 being more about levelling up to become sort of a demi-god figure, and New Vegas tries to stay tougher (or at least more balanced) from beginning to end. New Vegas places a much higher premium on characterisation than Fallout 3, and the choices tend to occupy more of a grey area than in Fallout 3. New Vegas's setting is more of a desert with a bit of a city, whilst Fallout 3 is entirely urban. Fallout 3 presents more destruction (as if the war has just happened), and New Vegas presents a world that is struggling to rebuild. New Vegas was made by the same people that made the original games, and Fallout 3 is made by the people that made the Elder Scrolls games. This is very apparent if you're familiar with these games.

Fallout 3 tends to be more of a spectacle experience, and New Vegas tends to be more thought-provoking. Personally, I'd get both, as they tend to be cheap. Get the Ultimate Edition of either.

Also, I could never get Fallout 3's radio to work on my PC, but I think most people do get it fixed.

Fallout 3 - A visual novel with the illusion of choice. It also has alot of eye candy locations and metros to explore.

Fallout New Vegas - A choose your own adventure game. The base story isn't breathtaking because it is up to you how you want the story to unfold.

Kinda like a bland soup. You need to add salt and/or spices to make it taste to your liking.

El fallout 3 es el mejor :D
I'd advise you to ask this on the Fallout 3 forum as well for obvious reasons, but which one I'd recommend starting with comes down to taste. Neither of them are complicated to learn, but New Vegas is more about role-playing while Fallout 3 is more about exploration. New Vegas was my first Fallout, though I quickly bought Fallout 3 and have preferred it ever since. They go on sale somewhat often so getting both is also an option.

I'd go with Fallout 3 first. New Vegas has some improved game play elements that you might not want to do without if you go the opposite way.

Don't really know what you mean by lightest, but i think fallout nv will give you a better rpg experiance, and it has lots of replay value and lots of choices that give different endings and such.

Main game and dlc gives you lots of hours and content to play with.

Not saying don't but fallout 3, but you should start with vegas
