Restarting DLC
Is there any way to restart DLC?

I really liked the Lone road, but I understand it has changed the game, but im just curious if it is possible.

It is possible to restart a DLC if you make a "clean save" with the DLC unloaded. Everything will be reset to the default state when you load the DLC again.

However, before you attempt this, please understand the following:
  • This will not work if you're using any mods that depend on the DLC in question. Your game will likely crash at startup if you ignore this.
  • Do not try this while you're in an area added by the DLC in question. Use the console command "coc Goodsprings" to teleport yourself out first if you have to.
  • You will permanently lose any items, perks, etc. that you have acquired from the DLC in question. You will not regain perk points that was assigned to lost perks, but you can add the perks (or different perks) back with the console when you're done.
  • You do this at your own risk. While other people (not me) have used this procedure to replay DLC without any harm, it is impossible to know every potential side effect.

To unload the DLC and make a "clean save", follow these steps.
  1. Save your game and exit to desktop.
  2. Delete LonesomeRoad.NAM from your data folder. This is required with DLC because the .NAM files force the game to load DLC even if you disable it.
  3. Disable LonesomeRoad.ESM using the game launcher or a mod manager.
  4. Start the game and load the save you made in step 1.
  5. Confirm that the DLC is unloaded by the absence of items, quest logs, etc. If the DLC is still loaded, start over from step 2.
  6. Save your game again and exit to desktop. This is your "clean save".
  7. Enable LonesomeRoad.ESM using the game launcher or a mod manager.
  8. Start the game and load the save you made in step 6. Wait for the DLC load notification to confirm success.

Might be simpler to just start a completely new game, huh?
Thank you for the reply, it seems complicated but I maight as well start a new game :P

Thank you SO MUCH, this helped me immensely with the Honest Hearts dlc. What happened was when I was going through the canyon I killed chalk while walking along the path so now both tribes hated me so I just grabbed the map of Zion Canyon and left.

The correct thing to do at that point is load a save or accept your mistake and move on. I strongly recommend against doing what is quoted above. I deleted that post for a reason.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
