essential console commands

im heading over to join the Legion and BAM NCR ambush me (doing a d-bag run) and everytime i enter the fight either veronica, ed-e or i end up sprawled dead in the street.
so i thought id make my guys essential so i dont need to become cannon foder to save their arses. however, no matter what thread, disscusion or wikia i go to, they all say "setessential ID 1" but in every variation i make, it says something like missing actor script not saved. halp me please. i dont want to keep seeing my EDI knock off die :(

It's not that simple.

Enable god mode and tell your dudes to stand some place else instead. Or get good and don't rely on console commands to beat such an easy game.

It'll depend on your version of ED-E, and you have to use the base ID, not the reference ID you get when selecting him in the console.

Vanilla: 10c769
Upgraded weapons (Followers' upgrade): 1694e2
Upgraded armor (BoS's upgrade): 1694e0

So, for instance, if you haven't upgraded ED-E, you'd type (without the quotes) "setessential 10c769 1" into the console, and that should make ED-E essential.

EDIT: Make sure to save, exit, and re-launch the game to re-enable achievements.

Also noticed you said Veronica. These can all be found on the Wiki pages for them, but Veronica's base ID is e32aa.
