How far can you go before you have to choose a faction?

until you get the chip for benny I usually make a Master Save, cause there you have to choose between the 4 factions

So make a Save after getting the chip, do everything you want side quest or mission of the faction you want to serve

No you don't only if you're going with the legion you'll have to kill Mr. House that early, otherwise it's just failing don't thread the bear and beware the wrath of ceasar that fail longer into the storyline, and yes man is ofcourse always avaible
