Graphics were great, survival mode gave a fun but hard start, liked the idea of the weapon crafting system and the power armour concept was great (it's pretty much essential to use it on survival mode). Settlement building was okay. I wouldn't have done it at all but I realized on survival mode it's pretty much essential.
Still, I got bored and just lost interest. I wouldn't have made it half as long without survival mode, that was the main aspect that kept me playing.
90% of the game is random generated fetch quests . The hand crafted quests seem to be few and far between. The main quest is just awful. The dialogue system is probably the worst I've seen in any game. The male voice actor is also bad and annoying.
The endings are just terrible, no references to any side quests and every ending is a carbon copy of each other just replace the npcs and factions.
I've played more than a thousand hours of new Vegas, at least 20 different play throughs and I'm still not bored of it. Fallout 4 i made 3/4 of one play through and have no desire to play any more. I also see no reason for another play through, my character does everything because i got too many perks to spend, and there really isn't much for different choices that actually mean anything through the game.
But don't get me wrong, all the aforementioned games are very enjoyable, Skyrim, easily 2000+ hours on Console, and I still play it. Fallout 3, the first Fallout Game I played, and the "I am Omega and Alpha, the Beginning and the End" bloody draws me in everytime I hear it. Fallout 4, as mentioned before-hand, I think of it as a great game, but not the best 'Fallout Game', the visual modding of guns, shelter building, and the perks that allow for very interesting builds have worked (mostly) well.
But I do believe that Fallout: New Vegas is the one that stands the test of time.
"Truth is, the game was rigged from the start..." *BANG* Draws me in more then the previous quote, it gets the gears going, gets you thinking, and gets you invested, gets you motivated.
I need to stop writing now, because if I don't, I won't be able to stop.
I have have 268 hours over 3 months.
Maybe I've been playing NV too much.
nice
Played the h3ll out of NV and think it sux too; already put the cash into it so decided to get my fair share -got over 3K hours in it and still think it sux. Why did I play it so much - trying things out to make sure that I wasn't missing anything.
I do like F3, but many think it sux -sfw; there machines, their business and their pref -has nothing to do with opinion they don't like it. Peeps try too much to explain their tastes -here's a quicky solution for ya - tell them to go F K themselves and play your fav. They haven't paid you for sh!t so F__k 'em, plain and simple.
I like F1, 2 and Tactics more than I like F3; from a combat perspective FTactics is the best BoS oriented, battlefield Mutant smasher yet. Whinners cried that it sukd casuse it was too hard -boo hoo. You'll get smeared by browning toting mutants in record time on easy in Tactics, but you get to move around in your choice of APC or HMMWV -you also work to unlock team slots for a maximal squad size of 6 members that are active at all times controlled by you or the game AI. Bethesda needs to make this title a hi-def remake stat.
Anyway, you guys & gals need not concern yourselves with the "haters" cause if they have to push their sh!t it is obvious that they're up to something anyway. We b!tch at each other all the time and don't really hate one another -we don't even really know each other -that's the beauty of it. The sneaksters can go fk themselves though regardless and they aren't welcome as far as I'm concerned -they ain't doing sh!t anyway except running their mouths.
If only Obsidian had more time, F:NV would be a whole lot better but even now, it's still better than a lot of games that came out this decade. The writing and attention to lore puts Fallout 4's main story, including the DLC, to shame.
