Have I played NV too much?
Combined on console and PC, I am well over 10 playthroughs in NV over the last 7 years. I have done it almost exactly the same way every time. I know the Mojave like the back of my hand.

I think I'm at a "been there, done that" stage, which is why maybe you've noticed I'm kinda defensive of Fallout 4; that game, to me, still has some novelty.

Yet, I suppose the fact that I come crawling back to the Mojave every 6 months or so for another round is a testament to how good this game is. If I can't see the supposed God-tier writing it has, I can say I had fun with it.

Fallout 4 is amazing, it's just trendy to hate on everything these days.

I understand it departs from Fallout traditions. But I had fun with 4 (and still am), and that's what I care about.

Fallout 4 is a decent game, but a crappy Fallout game. Fallout:New Vegas is the superior Fallout and with mods,I would say the superior game.
Playing both of them side-by-side, I agree.

I tried fallout 4 like 6 months ago, first play through and started in survival mode. Made it about level 70 something and like 3/4 done all the content.

Graphics were great, survival mode gave a fun but hard start, liked the idea of the weapon crafting system and the power armour concept was great (it's pretty much essential to use it on survival mode). Settlement building was okay. I wouldn't have done it at all but I realized on survival mode it's pretty much essential.

Still, I got bored and just lost interest. I wouldn't have made it half as long without survival mode, that was the main aspect that kept me playing.

90% of the game is random generated fetch quests . The hand crafted quests seem to be few and far between. The main quest is just awful. The dialogue system is probably the worst I've seen in any game. The male voice actor is also bad and annoying.
The endings are just terrible, no references to any side quests and every ending is a carbon copy of each other just replace the npcs and factions.

I've played more than a thousand hours of new Vegas, at least 20 different play throughs and I'm still not bored of it. Fallout 4 i made 3/4 of one play through and have no desire to play any more. I also see no reason for another play through, my character does everything because i got too many perks to spend, and there really isn't much for different choices that actually mean anything through the game.

It appears that many Bethesda Games (TES:V, Fallout 3 and Fallout 4) have horrible stories, and I sort of agree, I enjoyed Skyrim's story, and still do, Fallout 3 can die in a fire, all with that skipping half the story by going to where your Father is... Fallout 4 though, do not get me bloody started on Fallout 4, literally no way to be evil, conversation is the definition of an ass-wipe and a half, like REALLY, you NEED mods for the conversation options... And the I have to agree on the 'Carbon Copy Endings' because that is exactly what they are.

But don't get me wrong, all the aforementioned games are very enjoyable, Skyrim, easily 2000+ hours on Console, and I still play it. Fallout 3, the first Fallout Game I played, and the "I am Omega and Alpha, the Beginning and the End" bloody draws me in everytime I hear it. Fallout 4, as mentioned before-hand, I think of it as a great game, but not the best 'Fallout Game', the visual modding of guns, shelter building, and the perks that allow for very interesting builds have worked (mostly) well.

But I do believe that Fallout: New Vegas is the one that stands the test of time.
"Truth is, the game was rigged from the start..." *BANG* Draws me in more then the previous quote, it gets the gears going, gets you thinking, and gets you invested, gets you motivated.

I need to stop writing now, because if I don't, I won't be able to stop.

tbh my first fallout was 4, Loved the building mode, Did notice how colourful it was, id played a bit of the other fallouts and did not like them due to the werid vibe it gave off, decided to try NV, loved it, though i keep cheating a tgm'ing and just using a fatman everywhere. both games are good, i did get annoyed with the side quests, and got bored of the side quests on NV after my first game

I the total opposite of this, I started with NV and later played Fo4, and I hated the side quests ( or actually all quests in Fo4 ) because it was just go there shoot them get that and come back, boring fetch quests over and over, while NV had lots of choices on what side you want to be on and how the quest will end, making me want to play the game over and over for all the different outcomes

Think F4 sux; ain't hatin it is simply that I think it bloes azz. Seen it live, sat next to peeps playing it even ran around in it for a few Notanx. Hating as it were is not trendy - it's trigger sh!t or subversive bs being pulled on everyone by possible competitors with that title, publisher or development group and there's alot of that sh!t going down.

Played the h3ll out of NV and think it sux too; already put the cash into it so decided to get my fair share -got over 3K hours in it and still think it sux. Why did I play it so much - trying things out to make sure that I wasn't missing anything.

I do like F3, but many think it sux -sfw; there machines, their business and their pref -has nothing to do with opinion they don't like it. Peeps try too much to explain their tastes -here's a quicky solution for ya - tell them to go F K themselves and play your fav. They haven't paid you for sh!t so F__k 'em, plain and simple.

I like F1, 2 and Tactics more than I like F3; from a combat perspective FTactics is the best BoS oriented, battlefield Mutant smasher yet. Whinners cried that it sukd casuse it was too hard -boo hoo. You'll get smeared by browning toting mutants in record time on easy in Tactics, but you get to move around in your choice of APC or HMMWV -you also work to unlock team slots for a maximal squad size of 6 members that are active at all times controlled by you or the game AI. Bethesda needs to make this title a hi-def remake stat.

Anyway, you guys & gals need not concern yourselves with the "haters" cause if they have to push their sh!t it is obvious that they're up to something anyway. We b!tch at each other all the time and don't really hate one another -we don't even really know each other -that's the beauty of it. The sneaksters can go fk themselves though regardless and they aren't welcome as far as I'm concerned -they ain't doing sh!t anyway except running their mouths.
I'd say, you're not playing enough. Nah, I'm kidding, you can never play enough of F:NV.

If only Obsidian had more time, F:NV would be a whole lot better but even now, it's still better than a lot of games that came out this decade. The writing and attention to lore puts Fallout 4's main story, including the DLC, to shame.

Some may not agree, but Lonesome Road is probably my favourite story DLC, it was so interesting finding another Courier, and him being one for the same set of orders that started the story in the first place...
