Quick selecting different weapons?

I'm using KB/M but I first played this long ago on a console, and you could 'favorite' weapons to the D-pad, in order to quickly select different ones.

I thought it was an option in the Pip Boy, like 'E' or 'X', but I don't see any additional options in order to 'favorite a weapon'.

So how do you do this, favoriting or directly binding a weapon using the keyboard and mouse?

Number keys (except 2, which is used to change ammo)

Specifically, hold a Number Key and Click an item you want to be bound to that Key.
