There's more than meets the eye in Vault 34 - you won't run into Transformers like Optimus Prime, but you may find an interesting item or two buried down deep. That's all I'm going to say about that sans spoilers, but...

you'll probably want a re-breather, as well as decent science and lock picking skills. Hidden stuff awaits and it's clear you have not found all the goodies --yet (psst ~ armory)... <.<

shhh... >.>

Take care. o.o

The All-American scoped rifle can be found in the armory, along with the Pulse Gun energy pistol and a ton of armor, grenades, ammo, and other weapons. To get to it, however, you'll need to fight a lot of ghouls and swim through flooded parts of the vault to get keycards.
I'd suggest looking at the wiki page for more info. Also, have good lockpicking skills.

You know, I suddenly wish I'd gone through Vault 34 after I dredged up the Boomers' plane for them. Would have been a lot easier.

Malvastor:
Yup - some corridors are flooded and the rebreather comes in handy; the re-breather comes in handy alot looking back on my game play experience, actually. Any more, I usually get lightly set up with the 38 and then go visit the Boomers on a schedule prior to ever needing their support - good place to start serious leveling and equipment acquisition.

Little things I do:
Do the Cassidy run and whack Crimson Caravan NV Branch officer (what's her name - Laffirdy or whom ever) then the Red Head chick can just up and split when you do the "cupid" mission at Nellis. Do Silver Rush mission up to the point where Baptiste wants to meet Cass - help her out and her stuff is totally knocked out and she levels. Do kind of like orchestrating the "mission run" in NV with balance as a precept. Stealth at the Caravan keeps everything on the down low with no bad faction standing (NCR) - Sleepytime or Ratslayer and a Stealth Boy ensure success with an average sneek skill level. Noone gives two squirts about the Silver Rush though...

Sidebar:
Cassidy is my fav NPC Companion Story - I liked her dad too, beer and booze plus a Pancor Jack Hammer = decimation; Cassidy was a beast when he got tanked up -deadly and accurate.

Vault 34 is worth it, in the end. Bring companions to carry some of the loot at the end (no spoilers), and maybe sell to Gun Runners to get some decent weaponry.

I would recommend a 10mm SMG. There is a shartton of 10mm ammo. This vault has probably the biggest 'treasure' of any spot in the Mojave. It can be quite challenging to figure out though.

It has every single top tier weapon in the game located in the armory. Lots of them come in big stacks, like how there's multiple marksman carbines down there. Also, one of the game's strongest guns, the unique marksman carbine variant named All-American, is located in the vault 34 armory, which is reason all on its own to go there.

By far the most versatile weapon in new Vegas, but not really the deadliest. A character built to just spam semi auto shots with the improved scope can lay down a storm of fire that rips through armies, and since it's a 5.56mm gun, you have an ammo type for every occasion, and then some. If you're not a gun user, then just give it to one of your NPC dudes who is, like Boone. Any build using All-American is at least four orders of magnitude more deadly than the same build with a standard marksman carbine - which says a lot, since the vanilla carbine is a top tier weapon that's so top tier, the japanese would sort it as an S+ class gun.

Guns. Lots of guns. Including the All American, a unique carbine.
Brick Mar 31, 2017 @ 10:08am
All American, an unique marksman rifle,
the pulse gun ( does high dmg vs power armor and robots )
and a riot shotgun (best dps shotgun )
