1. Go to your Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Fallout New Vegas/Data/textures folder
2. create a folder called nvdlcpre4
3. create a folder within that one called weapons
4. create a folder within the weapons one you just made called 2handrifle
so you should have a new folder in your textures folder with the structure nvdlcpre4/weapons/2handrifle
5. copy over mil's 1stpersongrenaderifle and grenaderifle dds texture files from textures/weapons/2handrifle and put them in nvdlcpre4/weapons/2handrifle (that you just made)
6. rename 1stpersongrenaderifle to 1stpersongrenaderiflemerc (add merc to the end of the original)
7. rename grenaderifle to grenaderiflemerc
Make sure that these paths and dds files are named correctly
8, To make the game actually use these textures, you'll need to toggle off and on archive invalidation. In NMM, go to the tools tab at the top of the window and go to archive invalidation at the bottom of the drop down menu. Click on the box so that it's unchecked and then click it again so that it's checked. The mercenary's grenade rifle should now be using mil's textures instead of trying to apply the vanilla texture to mil's mesh.
