Anybody feel like this game was way too short?
I've racked in 150 hours of this game, and currently i'm going back over it. It's a great game, with a great story, but I feel as if the main quest is VERY VERY VERY short. And the only way to "Fill in the holes." would be through DLC. I honestly do feel as if OBS half assed the story a little bit, and just wanted either dlc or mods to fill in the gaps. Instead of actually making a longer more embedding story.

Disagreed. I find it to be just about right. Not too short, not too long and with a more than decent amount of side content.

i mean if something you can finish in 2 hours without rushing is "not to short" to you thats fine.

If you're finishing the main quest in 2 hours, then that's your issue. The main quest was designed to provide the player guidance in exploring the world and doing quests, as well as providing an introduction to several of the factions. If you focus purely on the main quest, and if you somehow complete it in 2 hours (and I doubt you weren't rushing), then you're not playing the game as intended.
It's actually very short. Without doing side quest, it's actually the length of spacejam.

2 hours is more of less an overestimation. The real time is around 4 hours...which still isn't much.

First of all, no, I don't think that a game that can be finished in 2 hours is by default "too short." It depends entirely on circumstance. If I find the experience distasteful, 2 hours is too long. If I enjoy myself, it depends. I'll let the content speak for itself instead of basing my opinion on a meaningless measure such as hours spent.

In New Vegas' case, the content is top notch and it also does not overstay it's welcome. If you're itching for more, there's a whole game's worth of side content to spend your time on.

Secondly, there's no way you're going to convince me that you completed this game in 2 (or 4) hours without rushing. If you run from one objective to the next without doing anything else, that's rushing, and that's exactly what you'd have to do to finish up that quickly.

And it's totally fine to rush it, by the way. Just don't be disingenuous and complain that the game is too short afterwards.

1:I don't do what others would call "speed runs" They're not fun.
2:It doesn't matter what your dumbass thinks. it's reality. You do a ♥♥♥♥ ton of side quest before actually taking out benny, or going to mr house. good for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you. The game's main quest is short. period. 2-4 hours isn't enough for me. yeah sorry i'm not afixing myself to your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ opinion for the purpose of being "right" ♥♥♥♥ off.
3:♥♥♥♥ you.

it's amazing when people who use the discussions take anybody who simply has a differing opinion from them label others as a troll.

Yes! I called you a troll because you have a different opinion. It doesn't have anything to do with you hurling insults and verbal diarrhea my way. No sir, not at all.

I know I said goodbye before, but I just had to grab that low-hanging fruit. I've had my share now. Have fun trolling the forums.

yeah no. being a troll usually translates to being funtionally dishonest to fool people, or to just be totally disruptive by making typical ♥♥♥♥-posty threads, or fast-threads. not insulting people. know what the term "troll" means before you start throwing it around for no reason, ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Seriously? How many games do you know of that can last for 150 hours? You're lucky to get even 50 with most titles.

You do realize that Bethesda didn't make this game right? Obsidian did.

I suspect a lot of that has to do with time constraints on the part of Obsidian. Bethesda typically takes about 4-5 years to produce one of their titles, Obsidian only had 18 months to put New Vegas together. That didn't leave them much time to flesh out the game, especially the areas that didn't deal directly with the main quest.

ain't that a kick in the head.
Improper Use Mar 12, 2017 @ 11:26pm
Yeah its short, there are alot of implied areas without use that could of been part of the side quest branching but are not used at all.
The bugging of the Lucky 8 also implies that the quest branching was started but not finished.

Many of the faction quest hubs are also rather small with only a handful of quests.
I personally notice the variation between Fallout 3 with its endless tunnels and spawns and New Vegas with its set spawns and blank areas. This seems to define a solid and clear choice to not use the exact same structure of interactions within the enviroment as Fallout 3.

Yeah its short, but at least its got personality.
