Help me remember what armor I was wearing

Title sounds funny, but I'm actually coming back to FNV after a two year rest.
I remeber in my past playthroughs I was in the ranger armor 99% of the time; I also remember the terrible faction glitch that comes with any faction armor. A little bit of google tells me the only non-faction ranger armor is the "MAMA FORGIVE ME" desert ranger armor in HH, which I do remember but 90% sure I wasn't wearing that.

So, how to look sleek without having every bad guys attacking me? Pretty sure I found a way before without mod or console...

The riot gear
(normal, advanced or elite)
is what you're looking foor.
It's basically ranger combat armor but better & non faction.
You can find all of them in the lonesome road dlc (Advanced & Elite are unique items though, so theres only 1 of them out there).

You can buy the basic riot gear at any time by going into Hopeville bunker and unlocking a commisary with ED-E and then you can continue or go back to the Mojave
