I helped the Powder Gangers defend the prison against the NCR and I got Vilified with them..This means they will shoot me on sight?

They will send Rangers after you and threaten you to improve your relations or else they will try to kill you.

The rest of the NCR won't attack but they won't be friendly with you.


If you get Vilified with the Legion, all members of the Legion will attack on sight.

No, but the NCR will start to send Ranger teams to warn you to improve your standing with them. If you ignore their warnings, they'll label you a terrorist and will attack you on sight.

Just kill off all the powder gangers, they are just convicted criminals anyway.

Anyone hostile to you, is either stupid or trying to rob you.
Killing the latter is self defence, killing the former is a favour to the universe. ^^

Being vilified will get you assaulted by the NCR as well as attacked by Ranger Hit-squads wearing the "Black Armor", but can be negated running a few errands for the NCR embassador in New Vegas acroos from Raphaels just pass the New Vegas Vault Hotel. You could also hit Legion squads holding NCR soldiers hostage. Also using disguise, pose as NCR and try to run errands at the Air base hitting fiends up on contract as well as assist NCR in other locales to re-establish good standing with them.

You can later in the game, however, it will make the main quest difficult as you need to cross the river at some point no matter the ending you choose. Your rep gets reset to neutral during the main quest too with each faction when they come and ask you for help with their plans.
