how do you activate mods in the steam version of fallout new vegas?

i don't really know anything about modding or how to activate mods once i have them (i know how the steam workshop works but i know nothing else)

The only ones that legit matter are the stickied community fixes and unofficial patches. Everything else is for flavor, and the vanilla game is gigantic, with hundreds of hours of replayability.

You download the mods themselves from nexus and other such sites, which typically have a mod manager to make it as easy as possible.

That's your opinon on what is legitimate this is another option as it includes graphical, gameplay, quest and misc stuff.
