Campaigns The Forgotten without a voice?
Greetings, I'm starting Alarico's campaign, I just wanted to know if it's normal that there are no voices, both in the introductory cinematics and during the game.

There are not voices in The Forgotten campaigns. :AOEShield:

There are none and it is highly unlikely they will do them.

Thanks for the clarification.
A pity that they did not put voices to him.

It's intentional, there's so much text in-game that it would be constant talking.

To be fair, the reason why there are no voice overs is probably because, The Forgotten was originally just a mod for AoE2 back in the day. Getting voice actors, even just from everyday people, to match the various dialects of FE Campaigns when you're just a small modding team isn't exactly easy.

However, I also don't really buy the excuse of "There is way too much Text in the FE Campaigns". While that does run true for Campaigns like Dracula & Bari; Alaric, Sforza & Prithviraj are more than possible in my opinion. There really is no more dialog in those campaigns compared with the Official AoE2 Campaigns or the later DLC Campaigns.

Even in the later DLCs, they used like two people to voice everything, although they did a rather nice job there, all things considered.
But honestly, unless they could find someone to act in a true Ed Wood Z-grade movie manner to match the quality of most of the dialogue, I prefer the Forgotten to remain voiceless. As a mod, it was a really good product, one of the best AoE ever saw, but as a paid product, it has a very cheap quality, no polishing could help with that.

I would rather read all texts, than hear those annoying Rise of Rajas voice actings before and after each mission... Its terrible. Those voices almost sounds like they coming from an asylum patient, sitting on a chair as saliva slowly flow from his mouth. African Kingdoms are kinda ok, but even those are far away from the age of kings and conquerors.

Yeah it is a missed oppurtunity, to not have a narator or character voice acting. I'd happily lend my voice if someone decides to make a mod to add this.

To be precise, the original Alaric campaign in the md version of AoFE had voice acting, done by Cysion and some other FE members. I guessed it wasn't deemed "professional" enough for MS to keep it in the official HD version.

True but I remember it was poor for an official product, maybe that's the reason they dropped it.

The real problem with all the voice acted DLC intros is that they completely miss the beautiful sound effects which Age of Kinds and The Conquerors campaigns have. The narrator just reading a text without any extra sounds to make you feel you are in the place.

I'm sure they will have voices in AoE II:DE.
