Taking 1 swig from a canteen, or 1 pop drink wont satisfy your thirst properly.. You need to keep drinking until it says you are full if you truly want to get rid of the warnings.
Same thing with eating. if you eat once, the hunger goes away for a few mins, then comes back.
If you are RUNNING alot, you will get hungry and thirsty more as well.. if you do the normal jog (W) then you won't get dehydrated and hungry as fast. but if you double tap (W) and run all the time, be prepared to eat/drink more often
when your character says I'm full, or I'm stuffed. you will rarely see a white message pop up on the left side
Sry for bad english :D
For thirst, I go to a fountain and spam drink from fountain. It takes maybe 30 drinks from fountain to feel full... so I'm not sure the % on food :( but as long as the indicator in your character screen doesn't say hungry or thirsty. your good to go.
