Less is more. Modders are lazy and the level of cut-n-paste chat-gpt-inspired broken ass code is beyond a joke lately.
I would say my hardest issue, right now, are ports and my server being seen on my LAN from one PC to another. I don't have a standard LAN, my lan has 9 PCs and a dedicated 'server hosting' machine and DAYZ is the WORST software i've worked with when it comes to opening ports. I've hosted....what...maybe 19 different game servers of different games but DayZ has got to be the most difficult piece of software when it comes to servers to deal with.
I've opened every port they suggest only to not even have the DayZLauncher not see my server on the local LAN and, when you are at that point, it's pretty sorry.
I've got a TP-Link AC4000 router and, when i bring the issue up, people start talking about my StarLink internet. I keep saying, "people, it's MY LAN that i can't see it on. It's the layer BEFORE you even get to the StarLink"
Of course, the AC4000 uses both virtual servers and port triggering. I miss the older, less complex routers, they were so much easier to deal with.
As for breaking the server, it's the easiest fix in the world. Just work backwards until you find the mod that broke you and correct your mistake. So, that's never been an issue.
