Hashima Map Discussion (No Drama)
[Note: Please no creator-related drama]
As I've played more of this Hashima map, the more I become a fan of it. Everything about it is extremely fun and interesting for PvP, possibly at behest to PvE-oriented and Main Quest-oriented players.

The thing that I really like about it is the large variety of custom assets and locations they've assembled from re-assembling existing DayZ assets. In the first city you encounter - you see a variety of skyscrapers that have skybridges going between them - something you've likely never seen in real life.

In terms of general exploration - it might the the most fun map yet. It's super duper dense and seems to run better than Sakhal for me (somehow). Any other players enjoying this map?

its a trippy map. there seems to be layers upon layers. lots of parkur....ive got 2 days in on the server i found with it. I think i found some quest stuff...no idea what to do with. General exploration is a blast on this map.
The use of assets, verticality, all the unique items you can find it's all cool stuff only major problem is the performance for me personally. People can speed run and go back to their bodies quick cuz of the size of the map but at the same time you can camp for 20-30 mins and get a nice sniper shot as opposed to needing to camp for hours. No idea whats going on with your settings or what kinda NASA supercomputer you've got for it to be running better than Sakhal btw.

My main rig is a 4090 and AMD 7950X3D. But I'm not running it on that.

I'm running it on my secondary rig, an i7 9900k and 3090Ti. Runs great at 4k with all settings cranked (MSAA on low and FXAA off), about 100FPS average in the cities.

I'm not sure why it runs so well for me compared to Sakhal. Even weirder is that assets and objects will fade in and out randomly at close distances. I was sniping a player 200m away in an open field and he instantly disappeared before I shot him. I quickly went into my settings and cycled the main ones from low to high, and he re-appeared again! This has only happened to me on Sakhal.

Without giving specific spoilers, I'm discovering that what makes this map spicy and unique compared to all the other DayZ maps I've played is the fact the main quest will take you into higher-tier loot areas and back into lower-tier loot areas. Where DayZ maps typically "funnel" players towards one specific direction of the map, this map steers players towards retreading lower-tier areas.

While players typically don't enjoy this concept - I love it. It's peak DayZ. Freshies get the rare opportunity to kill fully kitted players if they hear a certain bunker alarm go off. For kitted players, freshies can be pretty dangerous and are usually not worth fighting.

Namalsk is a good map. Played it a thousand hours so I'm ready for new adventures. Sakhal was good but it's a little too big and spread out for my taste. Hashima brings it back to fun and chaotic.
