DayZ
Why have people so confounded DayZ with Tarko and PUBG?!!!
For the love of god, these games are not similar to DayZ!!! it's a survival game. I've seen enormous amount of time people's reviews point out things like "buy PUBG it's better" or "DayZ sucks Tarko is far better".

example: I loathe sports, so, to me, all football teams are essentially bunches of men running around in shorts that kick a ball and shower together after.

(I'm exaggerating)

a gross simplification which suits my mind as I don't need to care about the intricacies and nuances.

as humans we've always done this and nefarious folk have used this to their advantage in history to vilify the "other"

eg " ginger people have no souls" etc.

DAYZ is seen as a survival game as is Tarkov to a degree and there are visual/setting similarities.

so, it's easy to state DAYZ=Tarkiov for the casual disinterested observer *and* for those wishing to stir the pot to cause dissent.

tldr? standard people assumption thing.

i think its because these games fall under the "trying to be more realistic than the average videogame" category, and when games try that they end up feeling a little clunky, slow, unforgiving, buggy etc much like how DayZ. EFT and PUBG are. they are very different games to play and comparing them is a bit dumb, but in general they were born from the same principles and i think thats why people do it so often.

Most players watch U tube to "Learn" about the game. What they see
whilst entertaining, really never shows the gritty side of the game.
You only ever see them geared, fighting inland with outher geared
players. On the rare occasions they die they usually "edit" the run back
a lot or completely out. This gives the distinct air of a PUBG style
game.
Ask yourself, how often do you see streamers like Shroud starve?
Streamers only show the cool stuff and they often play on either there own
server, meaning they are admins... with everything THAT implys
or the admins will "Support" the streamer to promote there server.
THAT is why 85% of the Vids for this game are entirely misleading.
Also they almost always play on Modded servers...

DayZ is sandbox which can be played and modded in several different ways to suit different players preferred style, so its easy to draw parallels with other games, if that is how you choose to play. (that and people will always compare things)

For me DayZ is a survival game first and foremost and I prefer the survival based servers. I also jump onto high pop pvp from time to time for the thrill. Very different servers with very different styles of play. Is it any wonder that so many games are like DayZ but not.

literally every single game has the same control scheme as skyrim. and most people who think tarkov is anything like dayz, havent played dayz.

Why do you need to validate the game you obviously luv by reading reviews???

Dayz is pretty similar with pubg mechanics wise, the gun play and movement are similar, people tend to compare those two for the gunplay alone, yes dayz is a survival game and pubg is a battle Royale but they gun mechanics are relatable enough to be discussed.

First, the topic was direct comparison. Second similar can be FAR from the same.
For example, DayZ is an open world sandbox, Tarkov is not.
DayZ contains a strong survival element, Tarkov does not.
The only real similarity is they both have guns.
It's a bit like saying that Ferarri is the same as that Kenworth 18 wheeler.
I mean, they are both Wheeled vehicles that basically share SIMILAR
components... Right

I didn't mention tarkov? i just said Dayz and pubg are similar gun mechanics wise, which they are, i have about 600+ hrs in pubg and 800 hrs in dayz and they do feel similar in a lot of ways, they are both spawned from the same game, just different mods so its understandable that they feel similar and have similar features.

Another aspect is that PUBG basically took all the players who really wanted PvP focused DayZ, since those were the mods of the mod they fell in love with, but didn’t get from the SA DayZ. PUBG was the first game that filled that permadeath PvP concept in a way those players really wanted. Tarkov is just another example of a game that scratched that itch for people.

That makes a lot of sense, personally I play pubg when I feel like pure gun fights with an aspect of realism, but dayz is for my exploring, interactions, looting and occasional gun fight, it just depends on what mood your in?

Very much so. If you’ve spent any time on this forum you’ve likely seen threads asking things like “where does everyone PvP at nowadays?” Or complaints about the survival mechanics and all that. While less common than before, players like these are those that came from the PvP focused mods of the mod. They want to spawn with a pistol and have every building have a gun with ammo. They want to spawn near the same area all the time and get in constant fights. The DayZ standalone wasn’t made for these players, but they flicked to the game anyway thinking it’d be similar to the mod of the mod they liked. For them, DayZ is a huge disappointment. They are some of the players that will claim that mods “saved” this game. Many just don’t realize that they were never really going to like the standalone the same way they liked the mod.
