Where are the Zombies?
This is a survival game in a zombie infested land with entire cities yet very few zombies...

lol, shoot a gun off in a big city or NWA and you will have tons chasing you, we took on 30 the other night after shooting a few shotguns off at night.

The other night is not 1.0.

I've been overwhelmed by zombies a few times to the point of run or die. I had a good spook too... was looting an old church in the middle of the woods and "father" hadn't left yet. Freaks me out when they run on all 4's like an animal.

DayZ does not have "Zombies", they are infected, more like the living infected people in 28 Days Later or Open Grave.

Environment is a huge factor, if it's raining, the infected seem to actually seek shelter next to buildings from the downpour. Even a chicken, with a brain the size of a pea tries to get out of the rain, as they say. Also, the sound of the rain will mask the sound of your movement. If it's not raining and one ags on you within hearing distance then more will come. Like the man said if you fire an unsuppresed pistol or rifle they'll come from all over in a city.

Even out in the country I've encountered the infected being attacked by wolves, which is great for the player, lets you know where the wolves are and makes them easier to avoid.

Beware the infected at night, currently they have much better night vision than we do, which sucks.

Personally, I try to leave the infected alone as much as I can, since they make pretty reliable and are the only available "guard dogs".

Hey, I let others deal with the infected. It's safer for me. Besides, dead infected bodies are a dead give away that someone is close by..
