single player games like this

The only thing remotely similar to this I've played is stalker call of pripyat, and it's not similar really probably

but anyway I would like to play this game, but I wish it had single player instead. Is there anything similar out there? thanks

Well the question is what you exactly mean by "like this".
Do you mean the grafics or the gameplay or the map and so on?

The closest thing i can think of with a single player option would be 7 days to die.

But a game that is exactly like DayZ which is only single player does not exists (my current knowledge).

It's hard to explain
I just want to explore a large map with woods and maybe venture into a city
I'm not saying I want a walking simulator, but I want it to be like playing in the early episodes of the TV show "The Walking Dead"

as there is no real single player option in dayz, u still have multiple options to do so.
either by joining empty servers (there are thousands to choose from), rent/host your own server or set up a server on your own pc to play offline.
edit: "the long dark" is a really good singleplayer survival.

SCUM is very similar to dayz and has SP. it's also in early access but it's actually getting pretty good and they update frequently

and arma 3 survival mods like ravage. less smooth gameplay and graphics but arma has human AI to fight

Yeah I think you could tweak arma 3 with mods to get what you want. I have not played scum so I cant say on that.

As far as big open sandbox games "like"dayz. I know of none. I think arma 3 may be your best bet as you can do just about anything with that game. I have not played it in a long time. 2 years or so. but it had many mods back then. And is very fun just for the missions and vanilla.

If you like survival games, The Long Dark is very fun. not really an open sandbox, no zombies but fun as hell. and tough as nails.

I would say Scum is pretty close to what you're looking for. Theres much more crafting in Scum and theres singleplayer. Right out of spawn you can craft a bag and a bow and some arrows to take on zombies. I would highly recommend it.

If you play DZ only on empty Vanilla servers you could roam around for ever, and not see any other players. Single player right there, look no further.

I would suggest Scum, as it has also a big map, infected (in the meaning of "undead" npc's), cars, bikes, motorbikes, basebuilding, a crapton of equipment, is still in development, but most important: it has, in addition to multiplayer, also a singleplayer mode.

Everyone is suggesting Scum, with a reason tho, although it is early access, the devs mentioned adding mod support once full release comes, which we all know what the Mod Community did for Dayz
