Can't you skin a chicken with an axe?

If you spawn on the coast... just look down... the beach is full of them.

Other places are harder to find... but after a while you will notice what textures bare stones...

As far as axe a chicken.... too big?.. try a knife or such.... axes are for trees and infected, lol.

I remember you used to be able to get stones at the side of most concrete roads? I spawned way out in the forest and couldn't find them anywhere, but I even came across a railroad and still wasn't able to pick any up. And I remember also being able to skin a chicken or deek with any sharp object...did things change in an update recently, or am I imagining things wrong?

With the new textures in 0.62 came new ground textures... and there is either a glitch or maybe the Developers are trying to make things a little more challenging... my guess is a bit of both ;)

But yes.. it is a bit harder to find stones.. and even places like railroad tracks that one would say.. "hey.. stones" don't provide them... one has to serisouly search when running around, but they are other patchs out there that give up stones... like I said.. after you find a texture that has stones, remember it for next time... or.. until 0.63 comes out and they change things again...
oh the fun of DayZ eh?... lol

As for chickens.... again.. the Developers are tweaking things to be a little more... challenging... and yes... even more "realistic".. or as I like to call it... "DayZistic" which is a litlle bit of both realism and game.. since it IS only a game and can never be 100% realistic but yet have a bit of "realism" in it... so ya... chickens need to be plucked.... but in DayZ... you need a knife or cleaver.. rather then something that is a "tool" for wood or such...
