I've played the original edition few years ago. I can only recall that it wasn't really a good game - mediocre at best.
Now, seeing the HD remaster at low price (sale, around 1€) promising better campaign, new features... Well, why not?

Zombie Driver is an arcade vehicular-combat game. There's a campaign, that will take you around 6 hours to complete. Also, racing mode, survival mode and lots of achievements. The problem is, it's all a bit underwhelming. Zombie Driver never becomes anything more than a brainless, ultra-violent, mildly engaging arcade game. It's entertaining in short bursts, but falls to make a lasting impression. I must admit, as a stress relief - it could work (If you're into turning hundreds of zombies into red paste :)).

I failed to find major changes in comparison to the original release (Boss fights? Tedious.). Good thing is, the game runs pretty smooth on almost everything, managing a steady 60fps even on low-end laptops.

Is it worth it? Well, if you can get it on sale, around 1-3€.
Don't waste your money on the DLCs. Additional cars are OP, making the game a complete cakewalk.

I didn't have high expectations for Zombie Driver HD, but it's surprisingly good fun mowing down zombies in your car! My fav mode to play is Slaughter (survival) where the zombies keep coming which also has an online scoreboard to challenge your friends. Story mode is repetitive and gets pretty boring; there is a lot of content for the money though! Blood Racing is OK but most enjoyable once you get a good ride. Decent array of weaponry & cars to choose from which are all upgradable (off course :p).

Definitely good value, a few weak points short of a classic but overall a solid, fun game!

If lavender tea and deep breathing don't help after a bad day, try this. Mixed with the proper metal this game's survival mode is a great stress reliever. Plus, it throws out achievements like candy making you feel like even more of a rock star. I sat down planning to spend 30 minutes killing some zombies...I walked away 4 hours later feeling as if I had been at a day spa.

Zombie Driver HD is a post-apocalyptic game where you need to kill zombies with your car. If i really need to select one genre which describes the game, then it should be: top-down shooter.

I have mixed feelings about Zombie Driver HD. I liked the story mode of the game, it has 31 missions and it includes boss-fights, killing zombies, performing special tasks, rescuing other survivors. The missions are located within a big, open-world city. You can explore the whole area during any mission, if that is your goal. Be careful though, the money you farm during missions is saved only if you finish your current mission.

On the other hand, the Blood Race mode was disliked by me. I believe the physics and mechanics do not really work well for a racing mode. Enemies respawn randomly, they can spawn ahead of you so no even if you first when turning to the finish line, then you still could be easily just a second already at the finish. The whole mode is focusing on “keep retrying and once RNG will give you the gold medal”. Git god, you could say, but AI aligns to your skill, if you are fast, then AI will be too, if you stand still, AI will still wait for you.

The slaughter mode returns to pure zombie killing. It is like an arena and you need to build up as many kills/score as many you can before you die.

Blood race mode has some early missions which are located in the city where the story mission happened, however most of it, just like slaughter mode maps are different from it.


This game is very cheap during sales so for that 1-2 euro this game is a really nice pick.

Story: 6/10 could be better, story mode feels pointlessly long with some unnecessary missions.
Atmosphere: 9/10 Driving through zombies…. Hell yeah baby!
Visuals: 7/10 Old game, feels retro now, but still cool.
Gameplay mechanics: 4/10 Physics and car control feels very bad. It is not a problem during story mode, but not suitable for a racing game, so the blood race part of the game is very annoying.
Music/Sound effects: 6/10
Game difficulty: 7/10 Blood races are hard because of the bad physics and controls of the cars.

You need the DLCs to get all achievements, some unlock slaughter mode, some unlock skins, cars, maps required for achievements during blood race. Complete pack is recommended.
ONE IMPORTANT WARNING: If you replay ANY story mission via mission select, NEVER UPGRADE any of your car. Once you finished the game replay last mission via chapter select without upgrading your cars there and win the last mission to get the finish story mode without upgrading your car. If you choose select mission mode and there you upgrade any of your car then you need to start from scratch with a new save game. You can upgrade your cars while just playing the story mode with continue.

Zombie Driver is the same for the top-down car racing games as Zombie Shooter is for the isometric style action-RPGs: mindless fun offering you hours and hours of entertainment while ridding the world of a horde of zombies!

You play as a taxi driver who is entrusted by the government to complete certain tasks during a zombie outbreak. The story is nothing special but some of these missions can be very exciting - sometimes you can use a tank to just destroy everything that's in your path but even with the taxi cab mowing down hordes of zombies can prove to be satisfying.

While story mode can get really boring (you should mainly play it for the money) Survival Mode puts you in a much smaller area and makes you the target of never ending zombie waves. The longer you can survive the higher score you can achieve and you can compete with your friends on the leardboards.

Furthermore, in Blood Race you have the opportunity to compete against other drivers controlled by the A.I.

This game offers long-lasting, solid fun! You have machine gun, rocket launcher, flame thrower and even a rail gun at your disposal to wreak havoc!

This is a highly recommended game!

Zombie Driver HD is a brainless top-down shoot-them-up game with simple flawless gameplay and controls. Regardless of the surpriseless storyline I managed to spent hours shooting and smashing zombies wave after wave until I got enough of the slaughter. Fun lasted easily the main storyline though.

There is also 2 other game modes. Worth mentioning is the Blood Race where player can compete with another racers with different rules and scenarios - a GREAT shame that multiplayer is not an option and all you compete with is a load of AI.

I'd purchase this from sales if I were you but if you really are into some arcade rumble rather sooner you can't go wrong with this.

Zombie Driver HD is a survival horror action adventure racing game both developed and published by Exor Studios. You're a talented driver tasked with carrying out a number of important missions alongside the military in a heavily zombie infested city shortly after the outbreak of an epidemic of apocalyptic proportions. These vital undertakings can include a number of things from rescuing survivors, transporting important cargo, battling gigantic mutated monstrosities and defending targets from huge hordes of blood thirsty zombies as well as a number of other important tasks. So start up that engine, don your sunglasses, put the pedal to the metal and rollout!!!


As an expert driver you'll have access to an abundance of different vehicles, thirteen in all, with which to complete your missions from taxicabs, ambulances, bulldozers, tanks to even a very high end sports car. The vehicles themselves are definitely the stars of this game and seem to have a personality of their own as they each bring something different to the gameplay of the title because of the many varied specifications that they possess. Some have better handling, others are faster, a few can hold alot more passengers and some can ram through hordes of vicious zombies with much more efficiency. It's your choice as to what vehicle to select for the job at hand but you should take the mission parameters into consideration before making your decision. For example, some missions require you to drive across the city and rescue a certain number of survivors in a predetermined amount of time. For a job such as this you'll need to select a vehicle that can accommodate the correct number of passengers, else you'll have to make extra trips, as well as one that is fast enough to reach them and return to base in time. If perhaps your driving skills aren't up to par and you tend to hit everything on and off the road then you should also consider a vehicle that can take the damage while enroute. Some missions however require a specific vehicle like a tank or a fire engine so you don't get a choice in these situations. The gameplay forces you to try different vehicles as well as strategies and I for one really enjoyed this aspect of it.

Controls for the vehicles are simple, intuitive and the cars handle quite well as far as acceleration and handbraking are concerned and you will make much use of the handbrake believe me! The tight controls really allow you to put the cars where you need them to be from drifting through a horde of zombies to navigating compact alleyways without running into the buildings or parked vehicles all around you. Also, customization of said vehicles is wonderful. You can change the paint job of every machine that you acquire as well as upgrade a number of defensive and offensive features. From the different types of mounted weapons such as machineguns, rockets, railguns and a flamethrower to nitro for boost as well as the speed and armor of the chassis. There are three modes of play available to you consisting of the main campaign featuring a very intriguing post-apocalyptic narrative. Next is a race mode where you race other opponents across the city which also involves car combat as you go. And finally, there's the slaughter mode where you fight through wave after wave of vicious zombies. In summary, the fun single player campaign alongside the extra modes of play will provide you with hours upon hours of zombie killing entertainment.


I love top-down isometric games so I'm very happy to inform you that Zombie Driver HD has an absolutely fantastic visual presentation. The HD graphics are quite impressive with crisp high resolution textures, a varied color palette, wonderful lighting, superb weather patterns and special effects. The game takes place in a sprawling metropolis with a variety of locations from suburbs, industrial areas, downtown and the docks just to name a few. Also, the physics demonstrated in this title is impressive as the environment contains a lot of destructible items that you can run into, knock over or blow up from fences, crates, vehicles to buildings as well as many other objects not to mention how fun it is to mow down zombies as you go. The vehicles, which are the stars of the game as I stated before, are nicely rendered and wonderfully animated. Also, you will encounter many different types of zombies from the regular infected people, zombie dogs, larger more menacing zombies and gigantic completely mutated monstrosities of many varieties as the story unfolds. Over the course of the narrative, you will also meet alot of quirky and downright hilarious individuals in the form of the many survivors that you rescue throughout the city. In the end, I was very satisfied with the outstanding graphics and high fidelity sound of Zombie Driver HD.


Zipping through the city in a Bugatti Veyron with twin front-mounted miniguns mowing down zombies...how fun is that?!?! This game sat in my library for years until recently when I finally decided to install and play it. I purchased the title some time ago thinking that it was just some mediocre cheaply developed indie title that would probably be so-so when it came to the gameplay...boy was I ever wrong! This game turned out to be one of those "hidden gem" titles that I'm so fond of discovering on Steam. It doesn't happen often but to blindly stumble across a game that completely fell under your radar and that you really grow to love, a game that is not a "AAA" title, a game that just didn't seem to get the recognition or awareness that it deserved is really something that I look forward to on Steam. Excellent titles like this is why I'm constantly checking the queue, searching the Steam catalog and reading reviews in hopes of discovering that next hidden treasure for my library. Technically, I didn't have any issues with this game but my only gripe is that the story mode was short. I finished it in about eleven hours but I spent alot of time just exploring the city, searching for money and trying out different weapons on the infected.

As options go, there are a number of Steam Achievements to hunt down and Steam Trading Cards to collect. There's also D.L.C. in the form of "Burning Garden Of Slaughter", "Tropical Race Rage" and the "Apocalypse Pack". These packs essentially add some extra maps and modes to the base game for additional ways to kill zombies and burn rubber. There's also the "Brutal Car Skins" pack which adds additional paint jobs for the classic Zombie Driver vehicles. And last but certainly not least is the original soundtrack by Pawel Stelmach which includes twenty brilliant tracks. Some very good music here if I might say so as a videogame music junkie. In conclusion, if you like to kill zombies or drive fast vehicles then why not do both at the same time in this fascinating title so Zombie Driver HD is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to fans of the zombie, post-apocalyptic and racing genres!

Controlling your favorite vehicle of choice, you mow down hordes of zombies, take down the rare boss, and occasionally save some survivors.

The pickups strategically scattered around the map give ZDHD that nostalgic arcadey feel of way back when games were not trying to be more than what they're supposed to be: mindless fun!

It's also a good option for someone who wants to enjoy a zombie-themed game without seeing ugly zombies! They're too tiny to make out on the screen anyway.

The gameplay is pretty much streamlined. For example, on the rare occasion of your vehicle flipping over, fret not. It'll respawn within three seconds in the exact position without snarky comments or time-wasting animations.

There's a healthy selection of cars for you to unlock and upgrade by completing your mission objectives.
The missions are somewhat replayable, especially the ones with guest-appearance vehicles, like the bulldozer and fire truck.
My personal favorite is the tank. You get to play with this almost-indestructible, OP death-machine twice mid game! (Missions 11 and 18 iirc)

The background music is average but does its job. I like how the sound effects take priority over the bgm.

The visual style of the game really is a feast for the eyes. Its gritty tones and oversaturated colors make for a captivating experience. I just loved blowing things up and watching the explosions on screen.
The blood spatters on the roads are eerily nice to watch. I did wheelies soaked in blood lol

Here's what to expect in this little nugget of a game:

Story:
Self-explanatory. It consists of a whopping 31 missions, each completed in 10-15 minutes or less; 20 minutes when you're not on a timer (for the secondary objective) and feel like causing a little extra mayhem.

Blood Race:
Remember that Death Race movie with Jason Statham? This mode is its race parts distilled, with a few zombies jaywalking in the middle of the race track lol
There are various types of races and events here, ranging in difficulty as well from the rookie to pro levels.
There's a Muscle Car to unlock here and a throwback L4D truck.

Slaughter:
Horde/Endless waves mode.
You pick your vehicle of choice and a map, mow down zombies, get upgrades for every wave survived; rinse and repeat.
Maps are considerably smaller here than their city-wide counterparts in Story mode.
L4D truck is available here, too.

There are lots of achievements to go after; 103 in total. A few require to play the campaign again whereas the others do need a fair bit of grinding spread across all the modes.
The point is they're all attainable but maybe not do them all in one go.

If you've been playing too many story-based or long games back to back, Zombie Driver HD might be your ticket to shuffle things up a bit.
It may pleasantly surprise you though. I knew the game could be fun; I didn't realize it had lots of modes to offer and can be kind of addictive.

I bought it for the badge and the "cute" red skull-emoticon. But it is surprisingly entertaining and varied, if you hate pedestrians... It looks very nice and gory - must have been forgotten by the german FSK-moralizers. Car's control sufficiently, but don't use the keyboard, otherwise your hand drops off.

Pretty much the same thing as the non HD version so definitely not worth getting unless you can get it really cheap in a indy bundle which is just exactly how I acquired it. As far as I've noticed all it really adds is some boss monsters in the single player stages. That's about it.

If you don't have the original though it's a nice drive and gun game with some cool extra modes that's recommended if that sounds like your kinda fun.
