Want to skip the intro videos?
../steam/steamapps/common/XCom-enemy-Unknown/XComGame/Movies

Delete/rename the following:
1080_ESRB.bik
1080_Logo_2KFiraxis.bik
1080_LogoLegal_PcConsole_*.bik
1080_UE3TechLogo.bik
UE3TechLogo.bik
E3_shield.bik
ESRB.bik
Logo_2kFiraxis.bik
LogoLegal_PCConsole_*.bik

I typically just change the file extension, and it lets me get right into the main menu. No fuss.

Thank you. I can't freaking stand unskippable logos and cutscenes.

Worth a shot, those scenes can be quite cumbersome

Thanks, good tip.

There's a much better way, in that it won't be undone whenever the game needs to update (and won't cause Steam to redownload those files, if you are bandwidth constrained):

Go to My Documents -> My Games -> XCOM - Enemy Unknown -> XComGame -> Config
Open the file XComEngine.ini
Search for and delete the 4 entries that contain "StartupMovies" and save the file.

I'm glad I did a search before posting this myself.
Straight into menu, only had to rename:
Logo_2KFiraxis
LogoLegal_PCConsole_INT
UE3TechLogo

I like your method better though, morbo. Will make for a cleaner uninstall.

You can also right click the game, properties, launch options and set

-nostartupmovies

No more of those

Wow that's actually the cleanest and best way to do it I think! Thanks!

Also works well under Linux. In the desktop item "/home/user/.local/share/applications/XCOM Enemy Unknown.desktop" and change the line "Exec=steam steam://rungameid/200510" to "Exec=steam steam://rungameid/200510 -nostartupmovies". Magic.
