Ok so after once again trying every single solution people suggested to no avail, I decided to do a hail Mary. Figuring there was a chance I would never be able to play the game again, I decided to delete my save data in documents: Electronic Arts: Dead Space, and LOW AND ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BEHOLD, DEAD SPACE IS RUNNING PERFECTLY NOW!
After doing a little digging, I found a comment saying that dead space 2 checks for a dead space 1 file so it can unlock a special plasma cutter for you, HOWEVER if your file is corrupted, it will cause dead space 2 to crash as well as its essentially trying to access a corrupted file.
In short, YOUR DEAD SPACE 1 FILE MIGHT BE CORRUPTED!!
Let me know if this fixed it for you guys as well. Hopefully this will be why.
