Game Crashes on Loading

Has anyone experienced this type of problem?

whenever I run dead space 1 & 2 it always crash before it loads the main menu.

Yeah I have the same issue at least on Dead Space 1, I haven't tried the second one yet but I'm guessing the problem will be there also. The game ran absolutely fine couple of months ago but now I get a crash just before it loads the main menu without any error message. All I know is verifying the game files didn't work and it's not the antivirus program. Didn't find anything on google or the forums so I kind of gave up on this game because my computer skills suck.

I've been having this EXACT SAME ISSUE for the last several months on all 3 games. the games WERE working fine until one day, they just decided to stop. I've been looking for months on a solution but so far to no avail. please let me know if you end up having better luck. it also happens on both the steam AND origin versions of the game

I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ FIGURED IT OUT!
Ok so after once again trying every single solution people suggested to no avail, I decided to do a hail Mary. Figuring there was a chance I would never be able to play the game again, I decided to delete my save data in documents: Electronic Arts: Dead Space, and LOW AND ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BEHOLD, DEAD SPACE IS RUNNING PERFECTLY NOW!

After doing a little digging, I found a comment saying that dead space 2 checks for a dead space 1 file so it can unlock a special plasma cutter for you, HOWEVER if your file is corrupted, it will cause dead space 2 to crash as well as its essentially trying to access a corrupted file.

In short, YOUR DEAD SPACE 1 FILE MIGHT BE CORRUPTED!!
Let me know if this fixed it for you guys as well. Hopefully this will be why.

Oh sweeeet baby jesus that actually worked for me! Now I wonder what makes the save file become corrupted because there seems to be quite a few people with that happening with this game so I guess it might just happen again. But anyways It's awesome to find a solution for this after almost four months of frustration, THANK YOU!

I remember around that time, my onedrive file sync failed and as a result I lost some saves for some games. I wonder if that sync failure corrupted the games save maybe?? idk. glad it worked for you!!

Hmm okay that sucks, that actually could be the cause. Hopefully it doesn't happen again too soon though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That's why my game crashes, I deleted my whole onedrive because it was full and I can't save anymore, maybe that time my files were corrupted. I haven't tried your way yet, hopefully it will work this time.

Crazy, the compatibility wizard worked for the first freaking time ever! I fixed this by setting Compatibility Mode to Windows Vista (Service Pack 2). Hope this helps someone else out there. The wizard has never made a correct suggestion before today.
