But honestly, this isn't really an issue, in my opinion. It's not like a buff makes or breaks the entire fight against a boss. Plus you'll have to reapply again at some point, anyway.
If it's in their power fantasy to give you a nice buff, then I couldn't really complain if it made me 5% less optimal.
Maybe the only case where it's actually counterproductive is if they apply a weapon buff that overwrites/has negative synergy with your own, but a re-apply shouldn't be that costly
Aura buffs and body buffs are pretty much standard so you're not losing much
I know I've done that quite a few times when I get sick of seeing the same varre-bullgoat quintuple-buffing abomination over and over.
I've played the game enough times. Co-op is about having fun, not having a challenge. You summon people so they get Runes - if someone summons you, why would you actively hinder them and try to get them killed?
The only time I'll hinder a person is if one of my summons pulls out Swift Slash, or one of the broken items, on an invader. They get a 'swift' boot for that.
Either way, I've just run the full game and DLC another time and was summoning for everything so everyone gets runes (although I admit I only summon people who look like fun, and not using obvious meta builds - anyone caught wearing full Alberich's or Black Dumpling certainly doesn't get picked up.
---
I'm mostly advising summons on something that they should know.
Buffs don't all stack, they overwrite each other (depending on the buff); so people casting lots of overwriting buffs are just causing issues.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. If they are going to hinder you, that's fine, be a bit passive in the fight and watch them get their asses kicked for a bit.

The problem with people wearing Varre Masks is that they most likely use a guide to play the game, and the longer they go the less their gear affects their personal play
So the more stacked someone is the higher chance there is that they will just die compared to someone not doing as much optimization
At that point it is not "help" anymore, but a challenge for yourself to get them through it instead
You're giving the man a fish, but they'll never learn to fish themselves
Bonus points if you do finish the fight and they don't even emote, just stand there waiting for you to leave, it's like someone is training an AI to play the game and you're a number on their data-sheet.
Imagine spending up to a whole minute and up to two Blue Juice flasks buffing yourself, like you're about to fight some Monster Hunter-tier boss, and then a wild LoR Andy snaps his fingers and erases it all.
Way to go, champ!
Nobody likes fighting Swift Slash. It's an absurd Ash of War and we all know it. It's an indignity to be on the same team as someone that pulls that out for PvP and just tries to spam L2. Screw that - the invader didn't come for a fight just to be faced with BS.
You would forever be my sunbro if I saw you do that to me and the host
